How short are you guys right now? Is Connie gonna park the 100's? Thanks
We're short, but it's hard to tell how much - we could use another 15 crews or so today, but
with people leaving and the like, there will probably be plenty of hiring next year.

I don't see Connie parking the -100s unless they come up against some hard time limits. The -100s make money like all the airplanes - they are good for the military runs and charters where the customer doesn't care about making stops.

Thirteen years with Connie will do that to a person.

Someone correct my numbers I cant seem to find the email with the actual figures. But basically we had about four new hire and four upgrade classes last year with a net loss of 3? crews. People are flying out the door faster than we can train them. Now add more new planes and a new type and i cant imagine the drain thats going to have just on the training department alone. We'll be hiring for years to come.

True statement.

New Hire training was balls out all year and when all was said and done, the net change was a negative. A large number of crewmembers who were furloughed by the legacy carriers when they were hired took recalls. Still more to go. Also Purple and Brown have had their way with the numbers as well. Then there's that pesky issue of the lifestyle not being agreeable to some.

This is a good time to get in. Advancement opportunities will abound, even more than before!

There is a ton of stuff on this site as well as others that discuss the company, the schedules, and hence, the lifestyle. Please make an informed decision if you choose to apply. It's not for everyone, but it can be a perfect job for many.

Things are moving fast here. I upgraded after being here for 2 years and four months. I heard that someone that has been here for 11 months will be in the Feb 4th upgrade class.

Have you seen the wash-out rate for the upgrade classes lately? 25-50%...

Just because your seniority comes up doesn't mean you can do the job.

For those that've made the quick upgrade, kudos to them. It is afterall, a 747 and you are pretty much on your own.

The company announced a bid for 10 B747-400 Captains and 6 FOs yesterday - for a training class starting in late January 08. Apparently the company got some -400s ahead of schedule - they should be online (assuming everything goes ok) by early summer.
