The NMB will mail each eligible SkyWest pilot telephone voting instructions, a confidential voter identification number (VIN) and personal identification number (PIN) to vote in the representation election. There are two important matters you need to know about the election process:
1 - If you have not received your telephone voting instructions and VIN/PIN by October 15, 2007, you should immediately request duplicate telephone voting instructions and duplicate VIN/PIN from the NMB. You cannot vote without this information. To receive duplicate telephone voting instructions, you must request them personally, in writing, from the NMB by November 1, 2007. (Download a ballot request letter here in PDF or Word)
2 - To vote for representation, you must call the NMB toll free at 1-877-NMB-VOTE (1-877-662-8683) and follow the voice prompts. Calls can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until 1200 PM MDT on November 6, 2007.

If you have done your homework and are leaning toward yes, don't wait. Your vote will count. This election will most likely be very close and your vote may be the one that gets the majority. You can contact anyone one the OC www.skywestalpa.org or call 1-888-759-2572 to get help obtaining your individual telephone voting instructions.

Thanks and Fly Safe!!

SkyWest guys,

From an ALPA guy. Vote your conscience and for what you feel will be best for your career not just at SkyWest but as you move forward. Don't buy into the BS about hiring at Southwest. There is no sword hanging over heads on this matter.

But we do hope for a representation at OO for the pilot group as a whole. I firmly believe you guys have a golden opportunity before you. Either way you vote, I'll have no animosity toward you guys.

On October 9, the National Mediation Board (NMB) mailed each eligible SkyWest pilot
telephone voting instructions along with a confidential voter identification number (VIN)
and personal identification number (PIN) in connection with the current representation
election. The voting period will be from 1201 a.m., ET, October 9, 2007, until 200 p.m.,
ET, November 6, 2007.

There are two important matters you need to know about the election process.

First, if you have not received your telephone voting instructions and VIN/PIN by October
15, 2007, you should immediately request duplicate telephone voting instructions and
duplicate VIN/PIN from the NMB so that you do not lose your opportunity to vote for
representation.

To receive duplicate telephone voting instructions, you must request them personally,
in writing, from the NMB. The NMB will accept a duplicate request sent via overnight
delivery service (such as FedEx).

The NMB will not accept requests for duplicate ballots after November 1, 2007.

Second, to vote for representation, you must call the toll-free NMB telephone voting number at
1-877—NMB-VOTE (1-877-662-8683) and follow the voice prompts. Follow the instructions
and write down the confirmation number you will receive at the end of your call.

Calls can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, beginning at 1201 a.m. ET on
October 9, 2007, and must be completed before 200 p.m. ET on November 6, 2007.
If you have any difficulties with the telephone voting system, feel free to call the NMB at
1-800-488-0019, ext. 5040, (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 500 p.m. ET).

Remember: Failure to complete the telephone voting process will have the effect of casting
your vote against representation.

This is one of the most important decisions about your future that you will ever make. Get
all of the facts! Plan to attend one of the many SkyWest Pilots ALPA Organizing
Committee events we are hosting, read the materials you receive from the Organizing
Committee, and ask questions of the ALPA representatives and Organizing Committee
members you meet. Visit our website at www.skywestalpa.org for more information and
details on upcoming events. If you have any questions, contact an Organizing Committee
member at 1-888-SKY-ALPA (759-2572), ext. 0.

Only seven days left to cast your vote in the NMB representation election. To vote for representation, you must call the NMB toll free at 1-877-662-8683 and follow the voice prompts. Calls can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until 1200 p.m. MT, November 6, 2007.

Please note: Today, October 31, 2007, is the last day to request replacement voting materials. You must request them personally, in writing, from the NMB. (Download a ballot request letter here in PDF or Word)

You can take the completed form (they may have blank forms on hand) to any of the Pilot Information Meetings and they will overnight FedEx the form for you.

There are less than seven days remaining to cast your vote in the NMB representation election. To vote for representation, you must call the NMB toll free at 1-877-662-8683 and follow the voice prompts. Calls can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until 12:00 p.m. MT, November 6, 2007.

so what do you think the results will be? what will you say drove the results? did each side (ALPA vs. SkyWest) present their message adequately?

thanks

It wasn't a decision that I made quickly. I talked to a lot of people and attended a couple of ALPA events. The biggest factor for me was talking to both present and former ALPA members, especially those at the regional level. I have had Jerry in my jumpseat three times, I have met Ron (haven't met Chip yet), Klen personally helped me out, I have not met my new chief pilot. So, having met most of my management team (didn't see any horns), having spoken to quite a few ALPA people, having spent too much of my life reading these and the SAPA forums.......... I just shredded my NMB letter. That's a NO for me!

auspac,

I think your thoughts are in the majority at SkyWest. what do you think? what will the final result show?

I'm predicting 43% will vote, with the huge majority of that voting ALPA. 57% will vote no by not voting.

when will the results be announced?

I didn't take the choice lightly either, but by the time the ballot came, I had made up my mind. I didn't even open it, went right into the shredder. ALPA just isn't a good fit with SkyWest
