Does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay during UA New Hire Training. Are there hotels that are near the training center that are clean and offer a better price than $60? Are there any furnished apartments that are near the training center? Thanks for any info.

Seriously, hasn't this been covered enough? At SWA you have to pay $7000+ for your type rating to have a 30% shot at getting past the interview the first time. At UAL, their contract sucks, pay is low, and you have to pay for your hotel during training. Can't we just keep the smart-ass remarks like we do when we get our medical - "same as previously reported" - and keep to the facts for a change?

Back in 2000, the Red Lion had a training rate in the 20's. They might offer it again if reminded there are new hires again. Good Luck.
 
JetBlue pays for a nice hotel that has a small kitchenette, plus they used to pay for a rental car for you and your sim partner.

My friend who was hired at DAL pre-911 had their hotel at paid for through indoc. After that they had to get a crash pad in ATL or a hotel. I don't things have changed much.
 
Nothing has changed, DAL picks up indoc (14days) and you're on your own after that. I got my CAL info because I was there for 9 months, and DAL info because I am here now.

Ah, last I checked, AA isn't hiring. I do plead ignorance to NWA. SWA is not a legacy, what most people think is a major, not the DOT limits. Then ASA would be a major, and we both know that they are not.
 
Paying $7000 for a type is not required at SWA. Just that you posses it when you show up for class. How you got it doesn't matter. Hotel and regular pay including medical, start day one.

ha ha ha my hotels were paid by the company with per diem and I got a type out of the deal tooo.

Just overnighted in Denver at the Doubletree across from the training center. It's probably too expensive for new hires, but if I encounter any at the bar next time I'm there, the beers are on me.

We need to support each other in this business, not deride someone because he's trying to make a better go of it, at another airline.

United has always made new hires pay for housing while in training.

In 95 I rented a 2 bedroom corporate apartment in Aurora with another new hire. It was cheaper than a hotel and much nicer.
 
What a joke the airlines are..... Name another industry where this practice would be acceptable. We are all SUCKERS!
 
Enough bickering - can we get to the REAL question? Why would anyone EVER go to United? By the way it's a serious question.

FDX doesn't pay for a room and only pays $2,000 a month while in training...

Those low life cargo carriers. They are so second tier! ;)

NWA now pays for a hotel in training. Too many people said they wouldn't come because they couldn't afford it.
