Air Wisky Vs. Xjet

Ok, so I think I've narrowed down where and whom I’d like to work for. I'm originally from Boston, and want to stay here. I think these two companies are the best fit for me, I know there is Eagle, Big Sky, Commuteair, Colgan, and Cape Air, but I wanted to focus on these two for the time being. I can't seem to find anywhere that compares these two companies directly. I know back in the day Air Willy was the place to be. How has it now? How's upgrade times, how does management treats pilots? Does Air Wisconsin have trip swapping like Xjet does? I have a lot of friends who love Xjet, but I'm scared of what their future holds (CAL not renewing their contract at all, being totally left out to dry, having EWR shrink to nothing, that type of stuff). Thoughts and ideas is what I'm open too.


P.S. This original post was poorly thought-out and written like a two year old, still not great, but I apologize for the awful first post.

And if you are scared about the future, then going into the airline business is not for you!

Everyone in this biz is scared of the future! You could be at the top Carrier on year, and the next your near the bottom.
 
I hope none of these carriers require you to write an essay.

If you want a coherent response, you need to put a little more effort into your post.

P.S. Have somebody proofread your resume. Really.
 
Why do you want to commute to these places from Boston? Have numerous friends at Air Willy and they dont like it. XJet seems to be the better of the two but why not take Eagle and just be based in Boston? Your going to hate any regional you work for when your commuting to get there. Just a fact check. Good luck in your decision.
 
If you don't mind me asking, what don't your friends specifically dislike about Air Willy? I haven’t totally discounted Eagle from my choices, but the idea of a 7 to 10 year upgrade doesn’t sound too appealing.
 
I'm pretty sure the Eagle upgrade time is dropping well below that.

AWAC and XJT are both top tier regionals. Listen to what has been said about commuting-just don't do it.

If you want the PIC time faster, look at Commutair. I think they have a base in BOS.

The pilot group is great, the contract is great, the union guys work very hard for you.

Management has basically declared war on the pilots and contract. When I left the union was being swamped with grievances. Management was beignining to totally disregard the cotnract. Additionally there is that little bit about the contract arbitration (which the pilots won but are still having to deal with). The airplanes are filthy as well.

If you can deal with PHL, a downright hostile management group (they aren't even trying to disguise it any more) and disgustingly filthy airplanes, AWAC is pretty good.

Sure your not talking about Piedmont Airlines? The disgustingly filthy airplanes thing!

Don't know much about either group. But I do know that Whiskey has a decent amount of BOS overnights. I don't believe Xjet has any. Bidding for BOS overnights would make your commute easier.

Commuting to PHL from BOS would be pretty cake, you will have about 20 flights a day. There are rumors of a LGA base in the future, where you would have about 45 flights a day. This place is not perfect, I would recommend maybe RP or so just because the upgrade is a bit quicker... that said the contract and pay for a FO especially will be better at AWAC. I don't know much about Xjet nor about their schedules... I suppose if you get EWR it would be not so bad, but you will hate that commute if you get a California base. The few people I know at Xjet are happy, so go with your gut.
