Anyone heard from NWA?

Heard they are struggling just to figure out what to do with the pool they are starting. Sep 24th classes and they are scrambling to get the new hire dept in line. Rumor has is NWA was trying to stretch out resources so as not to hire until Spring.
 
I got the bulk email on the 23rd as well. Found it yesterday while cleaning out the trash box.

I have a little 0ver 4000 total, ATP, no 121 or turbine PIC.
 
Had a jumpseater yesterday who is in the first class 24 Sept. Don't know if he was a from the pre 9/11 pool or not. Interviewed a couple weeks ago.
 
When and where on the website can I submit referrals? I've looked all over and have yet to find it. Anyone else found the spot?
 
Are you taliking about the on-line app or the email app?
We've all gotten the response to the on-line app, which is the longer, emailed app.
 
All Sept 24th bubbas are from the "pre" pool. There might be an ATI (grandfathered) in there as well.

If you "pass" the interview you'll know it within a few minutes. What you won't know is your class date. As of yesterday afternoon, the actual date for the first "street" class hasn't been set.
 
Started phone interviews today. Interviews start on the 11th and 12th. First off the street class october 8 and 22.
 
How are we supposed to send referals if we can't log in after we submit the app? I didn't have my referals' email when I filled out the first profile. I got the email app and filled it out. Now I can't get into either one. My insider got the info about recommending candidates and sent it to me. It says that candidates can go through NWA.com to send the reguest to them.. HOW? If you didn't put your reference on the initial profile are you just SOL or what? There has to be another way.
I just looked at the job posting and can log into the profile and see the current info but there is no longer a space for referrals like on the original. What gives? anyone from NWA here please chime in.

Is there any way to tell whether I've completed the "emailed app"? I started this process at the end of July and after reading this thread can't recall if I: a.) received the email app and just completed it automatically like every other app, or b.) it was obliterated like every other b.s. email in my spam container.
The status of my app indicates under review and I was able to input a sponsor, however, I am concerned that i missed the "emailed app". It sounds like a few are in the same boat, any solutions?

Rumor is coming down the pike that NWA is going to park ALL of the DC-9-30s in the very near future, so make sure you do your due dilligence before you leap.

Make sure you can stand working at Compass for an extended period of time if you are considering NWA.

Figured it out... I'm sitting at 500 multi so don't meet the mins. Problem is I can't fix it even with >1000 hrs in the F-16 so I guess I'm SOL...Later

Whoa! I think you're getting bad gouge. The corp can't gross $12B without the DC-9 fleet...and the RJ's on order can't cover it.

You're kidding right? I think your flight times would look good to any hiring board.

The system seems fairly automated though... So I doubt anyone will even see an app if "mins" aren't met. Most places allow >1000 single seat fighter to compensate for the ME time but NWA doesn't (at least for now) and who knows if it will ever change. It probably only affects a handful of dudes any way.

Heyas Occam,

Supposedly this news has been confirmed by the DC-9 Fleet Captain. All DC-9-30s gone in 08, with only the -40s and -50s remaining. That's over 50 hulls gone, to the tune of about 600+ pilots. You might want to give him a call to see whats up.

Things could always change, but in fairness, anyone considering NWA should be prepared for a possible flush to Compass.

According to Stephanie, DC9 Captain initial awards are going to increase from 10-15/month to 20+. A sure sign of reduction in flying........

According to HR hiring will pick up to 40/month with plans to increase DC9 training and possible A320 new hires after recall pilots have bid up. That's closer to 500 pilots....

As an ex ACA / FLYi guy and having the utmost respect of NW pilots, do you forsee NW attempting to change any of the flow agreements with Compass to help with Compass recruiting etc. . . . I don't think CPZ is having a problem, but obviously the regionals in general are having a staffing issue. Since CPZ is near and dear to NW, do you see anything in the pipeline that we don't know or expect?

That is all good news. When I spoke with Troy S. a couple weeks ago, he said they were going to hire as many a month as could be trained. They were having a meeting to see if there was any way to increase trainings through-put.

Hopefully this means more blocks to be awarded soon.
