Of the two Key loans I have one is at 7.89% and another at 8.29%. They're variable and change alot.

libor plus 2.9% = 8.29% right now. One thing to note is that once it goes up your monthly payment will also increase. Now if the libor rate drops your monthly payment will not decrease. You will just pay off your loan a little earlier.

I got an idea, what about trying to find a rich private investor who would agree to pay off your loan and then have you pay them back at a lower fixed interest rate... hmm.

Last I heard since it falls under the category of an Alternative Loan and not a Education Loan it can be wiped with Bankruptcy; however, if you're really thinking about filing bankruptcy get a good lawyer so you know exactly what you can/can't wipe.

Any one tried My Astrive loans??? I checked the website and alot of flight schools are on their list...Dunno about interest rates but supposedly they will mail a check for thr amount needed directly to you....that's what the site says....I've tried talking to a local bank...most do not do unsecured loans...or have no program for loans of the type we future Pilots need.....Right now, I'm getting my PPL for around 5K...not bad. They are charging 35 per hour for Instrument training So I figure another 5 or 6k for that ticket......I used cash and master, visa cards for my PPL....I almost got it all paid off...I still have my Check ride coming up but I have cash saved for that.....So try Astrive student loans.....www.myastrive.com....see what they can do for you. I was about to try KEY Bank but i backed out because of the stories like these.....
