Just state you aborted give no reason!
Pennekamp, there you go again...showing that you must in fact have no professional experience. You always seem to pop up chastising people and in the process showing no sense in your point.Regardless of the emergency, it's always wise to avoid the practice of self incrimination. Just state you aborted give no reason!

Every "big" airport I have flown at ALWAYS asks the reason for an abort and for a go around.
I agree on avoiding self-incrimination, after all we all know how things can be misinterpreted. But to say to give no reason is like saying to fly with no lift. They always ask.
Just be happy they had enough sense to abort in the first place.
But to say to give no reason is like saying to fly with no lift.
as much as this pains me to do, I must back JP here. I've aborted in ATL also and not been asked for specifics. All that needs to be said is "we had an indication issue that needed to be checked". 'nough said.....Pennekamp, there you go again...showing that you must in fact have no professional experience. Why would a config warning abort necessarily be self-incriminating? Something could have been configured correctly, but some _CU thought it wasn't. Big deal. Sh!t breaks.
Anyone know of anyone ever getting in trouble with the Feds due to a config warning abort? I've never heard of it.
Actually, this is EXACTLY the sort of thing that makes Mesa's POI sport wood.
Here's the thing . . . it's a checklist item, and at Mesa it requires verbal agreement by BOTH pilots.
So yeah, if it was a screwy computer, NBD, but in that instance you'd better do a MX write up to cover your a$$.
My .02.
Spare me the self-riteous rant about lacking of professional experience. I'll bet I was flying airplanes while you were still in diapers.
That said, I've aborted several times in Atlanta, also known as The World's Busiest Airport and never got questioned as to why. I told tower we were aborting and asked either to go back to the gate or taxi back for takeoff.
What if you are flying in a rocket ship (on a treadmill of course)!
I've been told that on a CRJ, AIL or RUD trim needs to to be set to neutral and not just in the green. It could move just enough to get a t/o config warning during the takeoff roll even though it was green when you started the takeoff roll. Anyone else heard this or experienced it?
2000 hrs in the jet and never worried about it being 'neutral'. Green=good and my issue only happened to me that one time.
John, I personally agree for the most part. IMO, it’s unwise to announce over tower freq the specific reason why you decided to abort a takeoff. Also, I’ve seen many pilots who see nothing wrong with announcing over the public airways the specific reason why they aborted. All that does is opens themselves up to scrutinization and self-incrimination. (This thread is a perfect example of these guys being scrutinized). Also, the media have been known to monitor the frequencies looking for a story to feature on the evening news and we all know how they always get $hit wrong and make us pilots look like idiots.Regardless of the emergency, it's always wise to avoid the practice of self incrimination. Just state you aborted give no reason!
They changed our POH about a year ago to say that it had to be in the neutral position. This was after getting aborts for trim warnings. If it is on the edge of green, the vibration on takeoff can trigger a warning.
Thanks Jack. I didin't have it in me to continue an argument with someone who can't even spell "righteous"...it would be like arguing with a can of tuna.
MS Flight sim doesn't count big guy. Time to put your TWA 777 trans con on pause I think your mom just called you for dinner.
