Anybody else think that the BLUE RIBBON PANEL, set up by our favorite people at ALPA is a joke?

My favorite thing was the quote by CAPT. Bebee
"The Panel is a well-balanced group, including pilots with a range of flying experience."
Wow, let me see. I see one person on the panel under the age of 40 and one person from a regional airline. Yep, seems very well-balanced to me. Thanks ALPA, where can I forward the next 2% of my paycheck to?

I cannot remember the docket #, but anybody that is opposed to this needs to log onto the FAA website and do a search. Write in your .02 worth and send this to the FAA for review. This needs to be done as it directly affects us all.

As for ALPA- send them a letter too. Posting on FI isn't effective, but getting ahold of your union is.

This is an interesting one: ALPA leadership is opposing its membership majority.

Management, the FAA, they are the 800lb gorillas in the room.

You are over estimating the the strength of ALPA.

The wisper beneath the screams........

I just read your post at 14:51.. Is that a trick? neat...

I agree with you, I'm just wondering why ALPA is helping to pull the trigger.

I guess if 2% of your income brings the big bucks in for alpa then they will fairly represent you. Regional pilots probably hold the most union member cards but we ain't pulling in the dough to mean anything to them. That would account for the 1 regional pilot on the panel.

YEAH! And the fat people at buffets only help themselves to ONE serving!

I wonder how the POS Beebe found the mental capacity to remember his own name. His mental capacity is comparable to a floating Turd if his past record is a indication. Take a look at his deposition's in any legal proceeding concerning ALPA's shafting of non annointed pilot's. If his lips are moving he's lieing and drooling for some nice expensive Alpa Executive goodies.

It occurs to me time and time again. Outside of contract negotiations that ALPA does not represent my interests very well. I for one do not want to work untill i am dead. I Grew up on a street of near the airport, we had 5 pilots on the block. They are all dead now, most did not eaven make 60, one made 63.

Management is not in favor of age 65. Threy do not want the top wage earners staying on for another 5 years. They want them GONE!

Supposedly, regional pilots account for about 40% of ALPA membership right now.

Ya know, there might be an underlying principle here, MONEY TALKS. Regional pilots may account for a large percentage of the pilots, but not necessarily the money. Say everyone is paying 2 percent. In a group of 100 pilots, let's assume that the regional guys average $40K per year and the others average $100K per year.

Regionals: 40 x 40,000 x .02 = 32,000
Others: 60 x 100,000 x .02 = 120,00

So, if this were the case, although regional guys make up 40 percent of the members, they'd only be paying 20 percent of the dues. Not trying to be inflamatory, just speculating. If I'm way off in my theory, let me know.

Exactly. This is why the Delta pilots have the most influence in ALPA right now, despite their mmbership numbers. This is why ALPA has a tiered representational structure. Another pilots who "gets it".

It's all a clique at the "top" of ALPA. These are the same dooshbags in highschool and college who were "everybody's friend."

We called 'em "BuddyF*ckers" cause as soon as you turned your back on 'em, they'd do whatever they needed in order to get to the "top" including screwing their friends over.

It's a huge circle jerk at the top, and they're all scratching eachother's backs.

Well ALPA just posted that they have pulled a RANDOM 1000 name out and will be calling them starting april 1st to see what the pilots think of the proposed rule.

I am sure random means we are calling 999 pilots who are 55-60 from a major airline that lost pensions and 1 shmuck from MESA. Just so it looks fair.

I don't know why they wasted my dues sending me the pamphlet in the mail. Anyone taking 5 seconds to skim through it can see that the FAA has already made up its mind. This is a done deal, regardless of what any of us think. Just more ALPA waste of time and energy only to shrug its shoulders at the 11th hour and give in.

Alright, now I'm confused. On one hand, you acknowledge that the FAA has already made up its mind about this and Age-65 is inevitable; on the other hand, you blame ALPA for "giving in." What exactly do you expect ALPA to do when the FAA is completely intransigent?

My point is that ALPA has no power and this is just another example of extensive posturing to show that they tried when they will fail. The FAA holds all the cards and ALPA is just a mosquito to be swatted away, nothing more than an annoying buzz in the ear.

The FAA will change/keep whatever they want regardless of what any pilot or pilot group thinks.

This Blue Ribbon panel isn't worth my dues. Convince me that the FAA will change course because of ALPA and I'll send my dues to you instead. This should have been fought tooth and nail before the FAA made it a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. This fight is finished already.
