They said 439 by the end of the year at the interview.

So if I get this right they will be in position to put new hires into class after the return of all the furloughs sometime in May. Considering there are only 7 months left in the year they would need to be putting out over 62 new hires per month. Thats over 10% of the pilot group per month.

If this is your first airline get used to being lied to.

All furloughs will have started retraining class by April 9... The first new hire class I believe is being scheduled for April 24ish

I'm a "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of guy.

Not when it comes to the airlines! Listen to these folks. It's why I'm staying away from Mesa. I don't want to 'believe it when I see it'... I DONT want to see it. The Mesa folks have seen it, told me about it, and that is good enough for me. I don't want to discover the Mesa abuse for myself.

You may have an opinion about Mesa, but one of my past instructors flew for them, upgraded quick, and is now a 777 F/O at AA.

Everytime he reads your posts about Mesa, he smiles and believes you make a complete fool of yourself each time you post something/anything about Mesa!

I'd rather have my dignity of not getting bent over and then forced to work one of my 8 days off, while the company asks me to skip my wife's cancer therapy session* so I can come in and work a flight they couldn't staff due to their incompetence. Thanks, though!

I am pretty sure the mesa he worked for and the mesa now are pretty different. AA hasn't hired off of the street for some time not to mention all of the furloughs out there.

What was his hire date? Had to be a long time ago.

hey here is the deal, they are telling the chiefs and the guys (line pilots) that they are expecting to hire over 400 then one of the chiefs said that including the recalls, it would be over 530

Man this sounds familiar... "We plan on hiring 350 this year because of all the CRJ's coming and pilot attrition!" - April 2005 MGMT during my interview

"We plan on hiring 400 this year because of all the CRJ's coming and pilot attrition!" April 2007 MGMT

  ;) :crying:

Don't you have some rowing to do?

You have to be a fool to believe that mesaba will hire anywhere near what the rumors are. We are getting 35 aircraft by Dec 2008. No way at that pace the we even hire 100 or so by the end of the year. Remember we are bringing back furloughs...not many, but some. Can you say koolaide?

Has anyone heard any updates for the new hires at Mesaba? Rumor has it they are calling up the folks they 'hired' and offering SOME of those individuals a decision to start on the Saab on the 26th, or else to wait (and let people slide up the seniority list) for the first CRJ FO new-hire class.

Anyone know when the CRJ class starts?

I accepted the April 23rd Saab class. Another guy in my interview class turned down the Saab class for the CRJ.. I think he said that it was at least 2-3 months away

Good, let them all bypass so I can get into class sooner... I'd rather be in the Saab w/ a lower number than be in the jet starting in June. ;)

I know it has been said b4 on here, but anyone that turns down a seniority number so they can fly the crj should be shot.

with Napoleon D attitude "IDIOT"

Mesaba!

Can anyone tell me what the odds are of MSP or MEM if starting in the April 23rd class. Just curious my wife is based in MEM but we would like to move back to MSP. Thanks!

Well, unlike you, and few others, airline flying is not EVERYTHING to every body. It's a great opportunity, but like I said, it's not everything. Let's say someone is already flying a jet and making a lot more than the start F/O salary (this person has flown a turbo-prop as well, few different models), but wants to experience airline flying and would rather fly a jet, then I say there's nothing wrong with it.

Seniority might means a lot to you but it's not EVERTHING to others. Especially for someone who has two parallel careers. I have a friend who has just bypassed captain upgrade at one of the regionals as he want to focus on his other career while enjoying, as one of the most senior FOs, best schedules and benefits.

I have heard also that some pilots have bypassed Saab340 for CRJ-900 and if the choice given, there's nothing wrong with deciding one way or the other. One of the guys who bypassed the first Saab340 class simply did it because his family is in MSP and he knows that the CRJ choice would base him in MSP and the Saab340 class of 4/23-24 could bring about the possibility of MEM or DTW base. He'd rather wait few months to be based in MSP for QOL then start an early class. In fact he says that he'd rather take a Saab340 out of MSP then CRJ-900 out of DTW.

Comprende?

Hi,

They are hiring 30 SF3 FO's, and 2 CR9 FO's for the April 23rd class. Anyone hired into the CR9, for now, will be MSP based, as the first few CR9's will be in MSP. I don't know when they will start to put them in DTW and MEM.

As far as the Saab goes, you might have to wait a couple/few months for MSP, as there are a lot of current pilots and furloughs who have to get moved back there, first. For now, more Saab FO's might go to MEM before DTW or MSP, as that is where a lot of MSP and DTW guys are currently parked, awaiting their chance to move.

This could all clear up very quickly, or it might take a few months.

They don't know yet, but most likely next week or once in class.. I'm guessing majority of the new hires will get MEM. Older guys and gals might be able to bid DTW.
