Well that settles it, we are officially whores now. Anyone from Mesa or Chitty Kitty have any advice on how to begin my new life as a bottom feeder???

I guess the 82 mil BK claim that was provisionally sold at 75% will be the 'lube' that helps take the pain away. Now it's up to the MEC to determine just how much 'lube' each of us is entitled to.

Maybe now that our costs have been 'right-sized,' DAL will give Mesa the boot and I can get my Key West overnights back!!

Let's see how the bankruptcy claim shakes out before deciding to hang our head in shame.

$61 million tax-deferred paid within the next three or four months vs. $47 million or so paid as taxable wages over the next four years...seems more than fair to me. For those who are financially challenged, $61 million split among 1500 pilots is almost $41,000 per pilot. Some will get more than that number, some will get less.

Deposited in the 401(k), returning 11% annually (market average) for thirty years, that amount will grow to about $930,000. Delta has, in essence, paid the average Comair pilot this amount to sign off on an agreement that is better than the judge-approved working agreement.

I don't think anyone is pleased with the outcome, but considering the circumstances, I believe our negotiators achieved significant progress. In addition to what monetary gains they achieved, one of the biggest coups was getting Delta to finally sit down at the table and negotiate directly with the pilot group. There's some precedent there.

Those on this board who will be along shortly to throw stones at the Comair pilot group would do well to redirect their efforts to correcting the deficiencies in their respective P.W.A.'s. Comair pilots had no help in the area of "DCI average" wages, and have done well to have passed through the stormcloud of bankruptcy as well as they have.

Thanks to all the union members who supported Comair pilots during this time. While the outcome is not what any of us had hoped for, the support received did have an impact on the final outcome of negotiations.

V-1, you're right. I think we exhaused all avenues before it came to this. We were going to walk, save for the BK judges ruling. This is definately better than what was about to be IMPOSED. Hopefully the DCI average will rise as CHQ and Mesa come into negotiations soon, and not to forget our new XJT partner with their newly won raises! Too bad XJT wasn't in the mix before our hard-working negotiating team was able to finalize our wages!!

I, for one, am grateful our BK claim will be placed in our 401Ks. Too few of the younger pilots don't realize the power of the time-valuation of money...they'll be thankful at retirement when Social Security will be non-existent.

I agree we'll get some barbs thrown our way, but I realize we fought long and hard for a couple years now to come to this conclusion. I just thank God for our flight attendants who forged the way for us and enabling us to negate that last LOA vote in favor of this settlement. I like how it finally took DAL management to boot our's from the room to finalize the deal ;)

Yeah, but you will have to buy a piece of plywood...;)

In that case, they can keep it!! :bawling: I want to be able to have a  at Sloppy Joe's and party at sunset in Mallory Square! Oh well, I'll be slumming it up in JFK soon as a noob CA, having those beers in Quebec City, or some dive in Jamaica/Queens.

I hope you are kcufing kidding...I hope that is not the agreement, I gotta an interview in about 3 weeks....lol

Not to worry! Actually, life on reserve should become somewhat more tolerable. With the long/medium/short call (20/20/60%) and addressing of staffing models, the only thing that will suck is the 'reserve leveling' aspect where you'll be hard-pressed to break guarantee for the juniors, and you'll end up getting called for the seniors.

Not bashing you guys because I'm not in your shoes. But if you would have voted it down, you would have been in the same boat that Mesaba was up against. If the company goes ahead an impose bankruptcy rates, everyone would hit the door and the company would be in a WORLD of hurt.

Mesaba management realized what a corner they had painted themselves into and came out with a TA that was a little better. It's like beating you over the head with a big stick then showing you the smaller one and saying it won't hurt as much.

Good luck guys.

so the reserve flt hours (flt time) decrease as a result of the TA? what's jfk life like....?

Where does it say they are going to put that claim money in our 401k? That isn't what was said at the roadshows. As far as I know the lawyer made it pretty clear they weren't sure what was going to happen to that money...and who would get what and how much. Did I miss something?

Life at Comair is really going to suck now. So much for the next 6-8 years of crap...by the time we start this process all over again, we will be the Mesa of DCI.

At the road show I went to they stated that the money was going into our 401K. They just would not discuss who gets what in compensation.

Party at sunset? You mean party with the parrot guy, the flaming flame juggler, the acrobat, the arts and crafts vendors, and 10,000 tourists? Sheesh! The real parties start late, and they aren't on Duval street!

Captains - $5.00
F/O's - $2.50
Lawyers - 60% of remainder
Mangement - 40% of remainder

Again, condolences on your fleecing.

Well, if it makes you feel better, a certain highly placed Mesa management type has been saying that now that Comair has taken a paycut, Mesa pilots are ridiculously overpriced.

I expect he'll be wanting a concessionary contract now. And since it's Mesa, we'll probably bend over and give it to him. So you won't be at the bottom for long. . . .

11%? What planet have you been investing on?

Over the 30 year timespan, 7-8% is far, far more likely.

No point arguing something that can only be speculated, but here's some information to back up the number I used previously...as well as a hard source:

"From January 1926 through December 2006 the annualized total return for the S&P 500 was 10.50% per year, up from the annualized 10.44% rate in September 2006."

http://www2.standardandpoors.com/po...ces_500/2,3,2,2,0,0,0,0,0,5,12,0,0,0,0,0.html

I don't know where you've been investing, but perhaps it's time to reevaluate your performance expectations...there are savings accounts out there paying over 5% interest.

You are union scum, my brother fly's for you and you sold him out. You should be ashamed. Nice bonus management took last year. What do you say to that. Go join mesa you idiots, I thought you had balls. Get rid of ALPA now, any questions please call 928-846-1364, and I will tell you how to get rid of ALPA!!!!!!!

Wow...I sure as hell don't want this woman negotiating my wages. Last time I checked, support doesn't pay any of the bills.

Two things should be mandatory of all prospective Flightinfo members.

1. Must be older than age 5.

2. Flightinfo should require some sort of I.Q. test of prospective members...a score of less than 60 would generate an automatic "I'm sorry, you don't meet the basic requirements for membership here. Perhaps you should try pprune.com...have a nice life."

To merlindrvr88: I don't employ your brother, but I'd suggest if he does truly work for Comair, that is a decision he chooses to make every time he checks in for duty. If he's capable of doing better for himself, but chooses not to, how is that his employer's (or coworkers') fault?

To CopilotDoug: If you understood how this business works, you'd understand that support, both from inside and out, does have a substantial impact on what can be achieved through negotiations. Financial management 101 is something you may have slept through, but it's really simple:

If you can't pay your bills with the money you earn, you need to either:

1. Reduce your expenses.
2. Earn more money.

Intelligent people save and invest...not spend and borrow. More than one Comair pilot per day left the company last year to pursue #2. More pilots will leave in the future. No one is forced to work anywhere.

Every one of us has the ability to exert control over our lives. Many of us choose to take the easy path through life by blaming others for our lack of desire to improve ourselves.

Feel free to resume the stupidity and criticism of others due to your own personal lack of character or financial stability.

Don't justify your pathetic excuses to me, go tell the Comair pilots who voted NO that they just aren't worth the money they were being paid. Seems to me those who voted NO were trying to protect their values and beliefs they hold in their careers. Meanwhile, a bunch of weak sisters like yourself are more than willing to add Comair to the list of stepping stones at the Regional level. Way to leave your coworkers out to let them twist in the wind. You going to waffle again when management comes back for the second round of paycuts? Luckily, they have Stuart Smalley (you) sitting in the cockpit with them to coach them on life principles.

I voted no and I'm sick of hearing the old crust getting all gitty that we got a claim, they forget they just took a pay cut. And before the vote ended they would all go around talking about how its time too move on and just vote yes so we can get more planes. They make me sick. Were not a strong union don't forget the only reason we got a better wage slash is because of the flt atts. when JC fell to his knees for his buddys in HQ and put the last loa in front of us he kept telling us that was the best he could see us getting and that it was better then the alternative.

My dog and pilots have 1 thing in common, they both roll over on command..
