From another UPS pilot.

I talked to Buz Thompson (UPS HR) in person last week. He said all of the 2006 app's
were dumped "on purpose" to wean the system of those who were not that
serious about working here. Then he said, that HR will "randomly" put the
link to re-apply on the website to force those "who really want the job" to
reapply (Interpretation: Lets see who will jump through countless hoops and
feed the arrogant ego that is UPS).
I have an ex AF friend who is retiring
who honestly wanted to come to UPS as his first choice. And would have had
they called. But instead, UPS dumped his application, and created the "Lets
see how much UPS ass pain you can endure" game. He said screw it and sent
his stuff to Southwest Airlines. Southwest called him for an interview
after only having his application for 3 weeks.

No tricks. UPS is purposely *************************ing with applicants to see how "bad" they want to work here and how many hoops they will jump through.

Why would anybody want to work at UPS?

80 for 80...

It's a diabolical plot to keep those with short attention spans from being able to follow directions from the hotline and successfully complete an application. Because of your lack of success, I would have to applaud the system and congratulate whomever designed it for denying your presence in my cockpit.

Maybe the moderator can do us all a favor, and grant him an extension?

P L E A S E ! ! !

For those of you new to 80for80’s poison, he/she/it is either a

1) UPS wannabe who never made it and is very bitter about it,
2) UPS pilot who did make it and just likes to spread as much false information and rumors as he/she/it can in order to confuse all hopefuls even more - some people thrive when others are miserable!

Either way, application process is messed up, lots of problems with the new format but keep trying and most of all DO NOT trust anything you hear from 80for80!

I thought thats what first year pay was for? A whole $26K. Or is it $33K??

I do know one thing, 80for80 you need to get a new hobby. Maybe go out and chase the opposite sex for a while.

Tell me what about the above info is incorrect. ANY UPS pilot that is not a newhire, they will tell you that this is exactly how UPS works. This post came from another UPS pilot who talked directly to HR.

UPS management works pretty much like any other airline management works. Some good, some bad. Most other Military or Fortune 500 management for that matter.

Why do you spew your nonsense here? Don't you have some legacy pilot to go undercut?

I'm just a new guy here so forgive my stupidity....I routinely update my UPS resume online as I have it saved as one of my "favorites" on my computer. I have have updated it once a month for at least 6 months. How can I tell if my app has been "dumped"???

Apparently, if it was filed in 2006, it has been dumped.

Aircraft out of ONT... everything flys out of there but officially its a 757/767 Domicile

Aircraft out of MIA... 757/767 Domicile but gets traffic from the A300, DC8 (occasionally) and the 727

If you had an application that you keep updating from 2006, you are wasting your time... UPS PR will never check that file again... You must re-apply for FY2007. I am not sure when the window will open back up, but my advice is to check it everyday or as much as you can.

800-241-2357 Call this number frequently, it will tell you when the window re-opens. Good luck, FNG FIT59

I can confirm BBDC8's last point and add to it. If you are updating your app, it's the 2006 app and like BBDC8 said, it will never be looked at again - you are wasting your time. If you've submitted an app for 2007, it CANNOT be updated, just a function of the program. I went up to talk to HR today and that is the word I got.

Is this permanent or is a fix on the way?

Weird...

If you've submitted an app for 2007, it CANNOT be updated, just a function of the program. I went up to talk to HR today and that is the word I got.

This app thing is truly a mystery - 1) misleading info in 2006 when trying to update an app and getting a msg stating your info has been added, when in fact all your info has been dropped, 2) allowing updates of 2006 apps in 2007 when the 2006 apps are useless, 3) peek-a-boo application opportunities, and...

4) It sure looked like I was able to update my 2007 app today. Perhaps the above post reflects that HR doesn't review any updates to the apps, and that you get one shot at it...

Not sure if a fix is on the way but the person I talked to said HR isn't happy that applications can't be updated. They never intended for that to happen and I gathered that they are working on a fix. HR didn't realize people wouldn't be unable to update when the changes were made to the system. Does that answer your question?

I asked the update question because a friend of mine said he is able to update his 2007 app. She said he's actually updating his 2006 app because 2007 app's are "unupdatable" - I made up that word. So I guess my friend has been wasting his time updating his app the past month or so. This new system is crazy. Once your 2007 app is in and you've got confirmation that it was submitted, it will always be "in the running" when they poll the computer for future interviews. Unfortunately your time's aren't as accurate as the could be. As I said above, they aren't happy that you can't update you app. I hope it changes soon.
