Well just heard today that the arbitrator ruled IN FAVOR of the pilots and said the concessonary contract was unjust and shouldn't have been used by the fact AWAC didn't get the UAL fying.

The company have 14 days to make good to the pilots.

This is not only a good thing for those of us at AWAC, but hopefully the rest of the industry. Hopefully this will set a precedent and reverse the trend in lowering the bar. Just shows that pilot groups shouldn't let management use bankruptcies and other unjust reasons to take away pay, work rules, pensions, and all that is rightfully ours.

Congrats guys, this is big for you guys, and big for the rest of the industry.

Thanks all!

To the ALPA naysayers, this is proof positive of what a good MEC and LEC's are for, and what your 1.95% goes to, among other things. This is why it is so important to be involved, and to have good, qualified reps.

Great job, guys!

Peace.

Does this mean snapback to old pay, "sorry" checks...?

Anybody have version of old contract?

And Congrats AWAC.:)

I've got one , I'll try to post the last rates, from 2005, along with the rigs and perdiem.

Peace.

From AWAC Contract '99

Year 2005

Longevity CA FO
0-1 $63.66 $25.50
1-2 $65.65 $39.39
2-3 $67.65 $40.59
3-4 $69.75 $41.85
4-5 $71.91 $43.14
5-6 $74.13 $44.48
6-7 $76.42 $45.85
7-8 $78.79 $47.27
8-9 $81.22
9-10 $83.74
10-11 $86.32
11-12 $88.99
12-13 $91.75
13-14 $94.58
14-15 $97.51
15-16 $100.44
16-17 $103.45
17-18 $106.60

That's just the CL-65 rates. The Bae-146 (think equivalent to CR9) tops out at $135.65/hr.

Perdiem would go back to $1.70 domestic and $2.00 international.

Actual on duty would go to a MAX of 15 hours (could be as little as 13 hours, depends on when you start your day).

Among other things.

Peace.

Ok.........so the arbitrator has ruled in favor of the AWAC pilot group. Now what? What happens from here? Does the old contract become the defacto one? Or do you work under the existing one until this is completely resolved?

I would very much like some hard info to shove in the faces of some of these ALPA naysayers........................

The system worked...................outstanding!!

edit: I forgot about the 14 day proviso. Still curious to see how/where things are supposed to go.

Things should snap back to the original pay rates, and retro checks should be on the way. Anything less than that is not what was ruled on.

Thanks Rekks,

Some other good gets are:

3/1 TAFB up from 4/1 so those 90 hrs trips away from base=30 block hrs

Standups 6 hrs up from 5

Total monthly TAFB 320 down from 380.. Big change here.

This paycut was more than per hour cuts we gave up lots in workrules and retirement.

More than the whole $$ value is the simple fact that our management screwed the employee's and now we have some leverage. This is a good day for all pilots. Lets hope that others can catch on and move fwd. Good Luck Comair we are pullin for ya.

signed.

A happier AWAC pilot

AF,

Best guess, we continue under the old contract for the next 2 weeks at which time the old contract is reinstated, and the retro checks start going out. Just means another 2 weeks of retro!

Best guess in my case is about $60K, and that's conservative, with no perdiem, interest (yea, we are demanding that too!) and doesn't even take into account the old rigs being applied to the flying. Plus more $ into the 401K.

This has the potential to be HUGE! And yes, management can afford it. We have been consistently profitable since AirWis was aquired from UAL years ago.

Peace.

Yea, the boost to morale alone is almost priceless. And it didn't require a Mastercard!

GO BEARS!!!!!

Actually after this good news, I could almost care less over who wins...we as a pilot group won big today and that is all that matters.

GO ALPA!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that a lawsuit will probably be required to compel compliance with the arbitrator's award.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that a lawsuit will probably be required to compel compliance with the arbitrator's award.

My understanding is this was a "binding arbitration". The company has no choice but to comply with the finding. If they don't, they just open themselves up to even larger penalties.

The cheapest way out for them at this point is to just pay up and be done with it.

We'll see. This is far from over. Now comes the other Unions' filings and the Company saying they're going under. Then a "settlement" is reached between the Union and Company that may be something other than full back pay and interest, along with the '99 contract, pissing off a BUNCH of pilots.

Now at least I can see the tip of the iceberg.

first nc state beats unc-chapel hill...then duke loses at home to florida state...now this...what a great freaking weekend!

PRO: AWAC pilots get a kick ass contract, congrats guys!

CON: AWAC becomes even more expensive and still never wins an RFP. What happens in 8 years when the Airways contract runs out?

That's ok. I would rather get paid adequately and not grow rather than whore my self out flying 70 and 90 seat jets at a 50 seat payscale. What happens in 8 years is what is going to happen irregardless of what pilot contract AWAC pilots are flying under. The Three Amigos have made it pretty clear that they don't want to deal with an expensive airline that has expensive airplanes and pilots. Ground handling is much more lucrative for the boys up in Appleton. My advice: enjoy the next 8 years unless attitudes dramatically change in ATW, and try to find a better flying gig in the interm period. (Then again, it wouldn't suprise me if The Three Amigos sold the airline here in the not too distant future.)
