Why the he!! are CRJ-900s being referred to as mini-jets?

We need to stuff passengers on the VLJ so their definition of a mini-jet will be redefined.

"Mini" isn't referring to the size: it's referring to the paycheck.

Because they ARE mini jets. I know a lot of you guys like to fly the "heavy". But face it, anything smaller than a 88 or 73 is a mini jet. Try sitting in the back for these 3+ hour flights.

By the way, those that are applying and thinking of applying the ASA. I was told by one of the interviewers that if you pass the interview you are offered a class date on the spot.

Also, our Chief pilot that visits the recurrent classes, is telling the class that if the pilots of ASA dont have a contract to vote on after the JAN 8th negotiation session, that he will be very surprised. And if we dont, then we will be very close.

Medeco

Corrected the date, Im still in 2006

This sucks.....way to go Delta................ but I think that CR9s are about the same size as the first models of both DC-9 and 737. I agree that the dimensions are pitiful(embraer has done a better job), but weights don't lie. For conversation's sake give me a 10,000lb window of error.

Now, anything over 50 seats should not be at a regional operator. Management wins.

i have a friend who wants to get on with ASA. i told him i would walk in his resume, but how exactly would i go about doing that. The chief pilots or goto the G.O. or who

thanks

WTF? The article says they went with bigger 900's because customers don't like little jets for long flights...the customer's slice of a 900 cabin is the same as a 200! (OK the window is higher).

But the tube is soooo much looooonger! This isn't about pax comfort, except for those premium-priced first-class seats on a 900 configured with 76 seats.

I guess you don't like your friend much; I would never suggest anyone work here.

Thats not very fair. After all, it is a great place to come and get some 121 experience. Even if you are an FO for 4 years, the experience is more valuable that instructing for that amount of time.

Sure, ASA has some issues, but I'm optimistic that things will improve once we get a contract. I guess I've deluded myself. :)

yeah it is just a longer walk to get out of the damn thing.....but the ERAU kids love em

These jets are part of that big RFP. Remember, the winning carriers have already been notified last week(probably RJET and Skywest). It is now up to them to issue press releases.

Have the Skywest -900's been "re-configured" from the 70 seats to the 76? If so are they adding coach seats and reducing some of the First Class?

Yep,
the new DL scope clause went into effect January 1st.

No. The first one will come from the factory in March. The ones already on the property will be retrofitted as the schedules allow. I'm not sure of the configuration.

Anyone know when the people who have been informed of who is getting this delta flying are going to let the rest of us know?

My guess is there wont be an announcement until ASA gets a TA on their contract which will probably be in a week or two.

Why does everyone seem to overlook the obvious? Why would Delta buy these planes? There is an argument for them leasing these to contract carriers but why use reorganisational capitol to do so?

The only answer that makes sense is the bulk will go to....Comair!
