The type is no good its a 737IGWNG or something like that. Basically it only applies to BBJ's

Since when?

Show your "work". Me thinks your "calculations" are skewed.

Did someone say that the seat lock would only be for 2 years? If that's the case, maybe he has money and he just wants to fly the BBJ for 2 years and then return to the G200 or bigger. Again, he can fly Falcons and even Gulfstreams for the rest of his NJA career... Sounds like he was looking at the bigger picture and he wanted some BBJ time.

Or, maybe he just couldn't stand TEB and he needed a 2 year break...

He's going to make more this year than any of his other years if he wants to.

Pretty smart idea. But it depends on what you want to do.

Hey Diesel I'm not up on the special ops stuff but are there that many out there? I dont think so. And as a new guy I'm pretty sure he'll sit and rot whether or not he wants to special assignments.

If it were that important to me I would go buy the type with the difference in pay he's really going to have during the first year.

I would love to see his next W2 but judging by his lack of participation in the Union I doubt he will disclose it to us.

Ah the light goes off after he realizes he can't make any $ on the deal....My definition of idiot is a guy that doesnt clearly understand the ramifications of a bid selection that he chooses........They even send you an instant message of the bids selected.

I would have done it.

Of course I'm a saidest (or however you spell it)

Diesel,
You my friend are among a very small group that can afford to give up capt pay for a while. If I was you I would have bid the NJI FO slot long ago.......

Two words

Seat Lock

Does anyone know the E mail address for Mark A? We worked at the same company before he joined NJ.

Please send me a pm if anyone has his contact detail. Thanks

Again, if you look at the big picture, why not get some BBJ time? If you are a "younger" pilot with 20+ years remaining (through age 65) at NJA, why not get two years of BBJ flying with the seat lock? Clearly from an economic standpoint for some people it might not make sense. But, if you have other family income (spouse works) and you want to get some interesting experience, why not do it for two years?

I am betting that was the rationale for the eventual bidder who secures that slot. After two years you can return to the left seat of the Sovereign or Galaxy with some BBJ time under your belt and some interesting stories (maybe about long waiting times at foreign FBOs). Or, you could apply to SWA if you so desire...

Just call him back at NJ headquarters in OH. If he isn't there, I'm sure they will tell you how to get in touch.

Hey folks. When you upgrade at NJA, is pay based on yrs of service, or years in program, a/c type? In other words if you were an f/o for 5 yrs, would you go back down to 1st yr capt pay?

only in the bbj and GIV/GV aircraft

It's kind of silly actually. The pay for this position has been in the contract for the past year. If you don't want a position, don't bid for it!

If anyone really, really feels a need to fly a BBJ or similar, I know that AirTran is hiring into the 700.

I don't think that any sane pilot would leave NJA for Airtran, but FYI Airtran only hires regional airline pilots or military pilots, they don't consider part 135 or 91 flying, so that eliminates a lot of good pilots.

I'll take it as a new hire!

Never happen, lot of us hired within the last couple of years (guessing at least 100 pilots) have bids in for that BBJ fo slot and WILL accept the award.
The problem right now is all of the pilots that never read the new contract pay scale bid the position and are turning it down, right now they're still at pilots with 6+ years with the company, in a couple of years they'll get to the 2 year pilots that will accept the award.

How about leaving NJA for skybus? CMH based start up airline...flying A319s.

That's funny, does SWA require the wireless laptop, sounds like they might need STRONG UNION
