You have to look at the bigger picture.

If it went to the 500's that would mean he/she has been there for maybe 6-7 years. So would they then be a 6 or 7 year FO under the BBJ pay? If so it's not as big a paycut.

it's a huge pay cut. class 4 and 5 pay goes by years in program, not years of service.

some people do weird things. last EZ bid went to a BBJ PIC.

Maybe he will turn the bid down or he is flush with cash. I never heard of the guy go figure.

You have to look at the bigger picture.

I was told only the people that have been at NJA for more than 30 years are allowed to look behind the curtain to see "the big picture."

Remember the base pay in the bbj is just that the base pay.

If you're willing to do special ops stuff (read month on month of) you can make 3 times your base pay. Add a month of perdiem and you can really crank out some cash.

Of course you have to be willing to be gone for a month straight. But the scenery is nice and you used to get all the free DVD's you can get your hands on. :)

Speaking of which where is that Rosetta Stone I got. :)

Hopefully this guy will take advantage of the special ops stuff. He's going to need it.

I looked this guy up, and he is a Jan 2000 hire/G-200 PIC. That's year 8 pay next month, which comes to $99,600 on the 7/7 schedule, and $118,207 on reserve. That equates to one heck of a pay cut, if he doesn't get any special deals. Ouch!

The type is no good its a 737IGWNG or something like that. Basically it only applies to BBJ's

Since when?

Show your "work". Me thinks your "calculations" are skewed.

Did someone say that the seat lock would only be for 2 years? If that's the case, maybe he has money and he just wants to fly the BBJ for 2 years and then return to the G200 or bigger. Again, he can fly Falcons and even Gulfstreams for the rest of his NJA career... Sounds like he was looking at the bigger picture and he wanted some BBJ time.

Or, maybe he just couldn't stand TEB and he needed a 2 year break...

He's going to make more this year than any of his other years if he wants to.

Pretty smart idea. But it depends on what you want to do.

Hey Diesel I'm not up on the special ops stuff but are there that many out there? I dont think so. And as a new guy I'm pretty sure he'll sit and rot whether or not he wants to special assignments.

If it were that important to me I would go buy the type with the difference in pay he's really going to have during the first year.

I would love to see his next W2 but judging by his lack of participation in the Union I doubt he will disclose it to us.

Ah the light goes off after he realizes he can't make any $ on the deal....My definition of idiot is a guy that doesnt clearly understand the ramifications of a bid selection that he chooses........They even send you an instant message of the bids selected.

I would have done it.

Of course I'm a saidest (or however you spell it)

Diesel,
You my friend are among a very small group that can afford to give up capt pay for a while. If I was you I would have bid the NJI FO slot long ago.......

Two words
