We'll see 3 year MD-11 Capts in ANC is my guess. Let's see ... $250+ in 3 years from new hire ... me thinks it beats flying 8 legs a day between Des Moines and Cedar Rapids on a luv-filled journey. Just one man's opinion of course.

Until the age 65 rule begins 3Q '07, of course.

Any new-hires still getting the 757 in MIA?

Cool, good news. It's about time there was some rapid seat progression at your place!

Isn't 3rd year UPS CA pay $160/hr?

BBB, where is the Holiday Spirit? Make Capt in less than 6 years on a Heavy, making 250K a year? At one of the most stable companies in the most stable segment (freight) of the industry? Say it isn't so.

I thought the only place to be was Southwest.

Wonder if anyone else knows about this?

That's 3rd year pay this year. 3 years from now his statement will be true. Also, our hourly pay means a lot more than you may think. Our monthly guarantee is 81 and the MD-11 guys get intl overide pay, per diem etc.

Why did you dicks have to throw in the Southwest bashing comment?

And with such a great contract you guys have, why did it only pass by 56%?

Nice guarantee.
How many hard hours do they fly on the long-hauls?
How many reserve hour guarantee? Same?

Who flies from DesMoines to Cedar Rapids? Chicago Espress is outta business, just ask FA Megadeath. Pretty easy commute to ANC. Wife and kids wont miss ya at all. But you'll be rich.....It's all about the money and "heavies" right?

Then don't bid it. No one's forcing anyone to bid MD11 CA or anything else for that matter. I'm not UPS but I'll appologize for them for the fact that you can't hold MD11 CA with homebasing right out of newhire school.

It always amazes me that no good deal goes un-criticized. TC

Lets see i would rather wait a couple more years, and make a few dollars less then have to fly in the middle of the night. I know a senior 75/76 driver at ups that wants out. hates the night flying. so yes i would rather fly 8 legs a day on a luv-filled journey.
Thos just another mans opnion of course.

Couldn't agree more.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just trying to understand the numbers here. You’re saying a 3rd year CA at UPS will jump from $160/hr. today, up to $250/hr. in 2009? I understand there is an int'l override but that's only around $10/hr. right? Are you telling me that you guys are getting an $80/hr. pay raise over three years?

Third yr. Captain pay in 2009 will be $198.95.

3 yr pay

Guys...

For a brand new hire who makes capt in Anc in 3 yrs, 3rd year pay (Jan '10) is not $250, its $215. You can put a lot of overrides on it but it still won't be $250. Better than $33?...yes, but let's keep it real here.

I believe the original poster, the one who made the smug "Making 250 after 3 years sure beats blah blah blah" was not referring to the hourly rate of a UPS captain after 3 years. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong), he was referring annual income, ie 250 K per year. (including international override and intl per diem)

However, I'd still debate that. At FedEX, year 15 captain pay is 225 per hour. Now yes, those guys do make over 250 grand a year. But, at UPS, with year 3 captain pay at 161 per hour (and even raising it to 175/hr with the 3 % raises per year), I highly doubt that any of those guys will be making 250 per year, unless they are COMPLETELY whoring themselves out, working on every day off, selling back vacation, etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

200 - base
10 - per diem/intl premium
10 - sick buy off
4 - trng days off
24 - B (part of one's total compensation ... though not income)
-----
$248k (just some rough numbers, but pretty close)

Now, if one were to really max out pay by picking up max opentime/JA, a 3 yr Capt could get quite close to $300k total compensation.

I'm simply talking total compensation ... the total amount thrown your way per year for your efforts at this company. You'all can argue the minutiae to your heart's content.
