Okay, I have to ask. Besides the freezing drizzle, why would they cancel? Delays, while they clean the runway, sure, but why cancel 24 hours ahead of time? Can you not take off before your hold over time expires? How much snow are they expecting? I would think ORD has good removal equipment.

They don't want to pay the OT, pay pax for the inconvenience (ha ha yeah right), don't want to deal with the backlog in the concourse, don't want to pay for the Glycol!
Besides, the City of Chicago probably wants them to slow down ops during the wx, anyway.
