The NWA/AMFA strike vote results are in.
Accept 1511 - 72.6%
Denied 583 - 27.08%
Abstain 3.0 - 14%
This is all that was posted at the local AMFA website in MSP. Does this mean the strike is officially over?

The "scabs" are doing a great job at reasonable rates -- so why not?

This is why we as aircraft mechanis cant make any money. Because low lifes like your self has this train of thoughts. Aircraft mechanics should be paid the same as pilots 10 year captian at a 121. aircraft mechanic 10 year at 121 should be paid the same. SCABS suck bottom line oh yea nice nwa pilots flying a/c worked on buy scabs and why are pilots the first ones to take pay cuts???

Yep, they are!

BTW, ya gotta admit that mechanics making 40 bucks an hour is a bit out of line (NWA pre "scab").

It was actually more around $35. Why does this seem unreasonable? You wouldn't think twice about an electrician or a plumber making that much. or a heavy equipment operator... why then for someone who is maintaining an airliner. I don't think they made too much for when that contract was ratified ( pre 9/11 ). Fed Ex tops out in the $40's. I think they had mabe a few too many as far as head count, but that doen't matter now.

Aircraft Mechanics do well enough. AMFA was a militant group and needed to go.
If not -- how come you guys got no support from any of the other NWA unions?

If you wanted to make a pilot's paycheck, then you should have gone to flight school.

I'm not in a union and never have been, but I would not try taking someone's job out from under them, when they are just trying to do the best they can. there are lots of open positions out there and my tool box has wheels.

No a mechanic should make as much as or more then pilots.

I agree.

They have just as much responsibility as the pilots. And when was the last time you saw a mechanic sitting in a cushy chair with a head rest sucking down diet Pepsi's and peanuts watching a computerized wrench repairing the airplane?

We can talk about this in person, next time I need the bugs wiped off the windshield.

Well when we both lose our jobs and I have skill to get a job what will a atp get you oh yea a job a k-mart.
