Mistake 1- Landing a 757 on a 70' taxiway at a major airport
Mistake 2- Pilots just taxi clear and leave the airport without notifying anyone. WTFO!

Maybe there's another side to the story than what the NY Post reports, but it sure seems whacked.

Not exusing what happened, but EWR doesn't have any taxiway edge lighting. I don't think there are any other major US airports that can say that (but I'm not positive).

Combine that with a relatively challenging circling approach and I can certainly see how it could happen.

Oh it will be up there when said and done. Most posts will be about the Captain being a typical scab and the FO probably being an unqualified intern minority with 1500 hours. Note post earlier. Circling to 29 definetly is a challenging profile especially from 4R and I've probably done it over 100 times. Yeah this incident was ugly, but I wouldn't trust the words of any publication that has a Page Six and Victoria Gotti as a part-time columnist...

Why would these guys not step up to their mistake? I find it hard to believe this. I'm not saying they did this, but out of curiousity, would anyone on this board not be willing to step up to this mistake if they made it, and if so why?

Before you guys pile on with the disparaging commentary, please consider the following:

• There is not a single blue taxiway edge light at Newark Liberty. Not a one.

• The post-cold front circling maneuver from 04R to 29 is a very challenging maneuver, especially at night/low visibility. Toss in some fatigue, and you have an environment very conducive to human error.

• The NY Post claims the pilots left. The NY Post? Please...the Scholastic Reader my kids get in elementary school has more journalistic integrity

I've been flying out of EWR for almost three years, and never. Very uncommon. 22L circle 29 happens a bit more often.
