Retired . . . so glad to be, but so sad that kind of BS is going on in theater. I can only imagine what kind of BS is going on state-side. When I think of what once was, and could be again with the right piss~n~vinegar leadership . . .

You guys carry the fight, to the bad guys, and the guys who don't realize who is carrying the spears ! ! ! To the Pattons of Today, a toast.

Good for that 1st shirt, but obviously nothing's changed. "Warrior Monks!" Shack. Never heard that before, hilarious.

The 1st Sh*t threw a fit because it was the CC. We had a co-pilot get one and the same CC position (different dude) threw a fit!!! Go figure!

Can't wait to hear your stories when you get back dude...give em hell!!!

My point was that I think the AF has lost it's focus.

That is a very valid observation Deuce130.

If you can't see an obvious attempt at cynical bitching ....

I would hate to see your 'cynical bitching' if you guys had to deploy on a CVN. The Navy guys don't exactly like it, but they recognize that is the price that must be paid to get close to the action and the bad guys.

I was on the Truman not too long ago. I may be wrong, but I would bet that the work out room on that relatively new CVN, viewed as palatial by the guys on the boat, would pale in comparison to the size and equipment to the facilities at Balad.

You're probably right. What's your point? Military members have bitching about things since the beginning of time, whether it was that the clubs the chief gave them were too small, the old cheese was too old, there were no shoes at Valley Forge, the coffee is bad, the rules at balad are stupid. I'm sure you Navy pogues have some favorite complaints about the aircraft carrier. I'm sure you're not all smiley and happy all the time on the boat. Except when it's shower time, of course.

The "Warrior Monk" term came from Gen Zinni (USMC) just before he retired. Amazing how free-speaking some of the higher-ups can be when they hand in their retirement papers and no longer have to be politically correct and speak as their "masters" speak.

He spoke to some organization about the decimation of the military fighting man (and woman) by the political correctness of the military of that day. Declared something along the lines that the politicians (civilian and military) couldn't have a guy who is trained to kill, destroy, sacrifice, do the dirty work involved in the protection of the USA and then be restricted to a "monk-like" existance when actually at their home base. No smoking, no cussing, no drinking, no strip clubs, no hell-raising like 18-25 year old warriors can do, etc. Said it was asinine for the higher-ups to think a kid would finish work, and then only go straight to some continuing education, then home to study military education, restrict his outside life to be a civic leader, a church leader, boy scout, etc. Said it was unreasonable and irresponsible to demand that of those who worked so hard in the home training fields (as well as deployed) to live under restrictions that basically castrated the soldier/marine/airman/coastie, etc.

Used to have a copy of the speech, but it's long gone. But, I'd buy the man a tall, cold beer for putting that term in the spotlight. He's absolutely right...good luck all.

My point is that AF p*ssies have it much easier than the Army, Navy or especially the USMC, and the AF p*ssies are the biggest bitchers.

That's my point. Get it?

If you had as much contempt for the the enemy a**holes the USAF has been bombing into oblivion since 1991 as you do for the USAF itself, you'd be an asset in the GWOT. As it is, I (and many others) just think you're an insecure *********************************** who likes to post on FI about what a badass he is. Get it?

MAGNUM!!

You really don't believe that the AF is a bunch of bitchin' prima donnas that has it much easier than the other branches?

Prima donnas? Nope. Bitchin'? Like, totally.

I guess Zoomie education is a bit lacking.

Here's the definition of Prima Donna:

Originally used in opera companies, "prima donna" is Italian for "first lady". The term was used to designate the leading femalesinger in the opera company, the person to whom the prime roles would be given. The prima donna was normally, but not necessarily, a soprano.
Legendarily, these "prima donnas" were often regarded as egotistical, unreasonable and irritable, with a rather high opinion of themselves, not shared by others. Although whether they are truly vainer or more hot-tempered than other singers (or than any other people in the opera houses) is highly debatable, nowadays the term often signifies a vain and temperamental person who, although irritating, cannot be done without.

You guys qualify. We definetly can't do without you.

Hey Einstein...myself, HarryShadow and Magnum were in AFSOC...we got there BEFORE everyone else...hauled in the teams..and left looooong after everyone got there...which means we got to experience crapping in holes...to crapping in Harvest Bear sh*tters to crapping in porcelain..so don' start with the p*ssy comments....there was no cable in Pakistan when I got there...MOF 3 hours after I actually got to sleep I was yanked out of my TENT by an SP with a weapon because of a bomb threat.....Duece..your tent was next to mine at that time I think.

In all seriousness I have been saying this for a year and actually thought I came up with it, until a buddy in my unit told me Zinni did....and my idea is exactly as his - the truth! They train us to kill...but they won't allow us to revel in it....enjoy our life or ACT like the trained killers, with fangs out, that they WANT us to be...dang....talk about coincidence....glad he said that...although it fell on deaf ears.

No contempt for AF fighter dudes MAGNUM!!, just a sense of amazement that guys that have a better deal than anyone else do so much bitching.

Dude…please PM me if you’re ever down here at Hurlburt Field…I’ll personally give you a tour of all the memorials we have of the “AF p*ssies” who’ve lost their lives fighting for their country!!!

Harry;

No dispute there Harry. I got bent out of shape when I saw the post bitching about a crowded workout facility at Balad.

I see things haven't improved much since I retired in '99. Hypocrisy from the leadership is nearly stunning. Must be trained by Democrats. We expect you to kill, maim, and destroy.....but don't say anything that might offend the enemy. We expect you to be a fire breathing warrior, but you can't buy a playboy on base 'cause it's insensitive/immoral to look at p*ssy. We encourage you to pray before flying a combat mission, just don't say the word "God" aloud. Nauseating.

Personal observation from a couple of trips to the sandbox. The average USAF support captain is on his fourth rotation of his career. When I was supporting the Marines the typical captain was on his 4th six month rotation since 9/11. The typical USAF support colonel was on his first rotation. The typical Marine support colonel forgot how many deployments he'd been on ten years ago. The Marines appeared to know the difference between 'good order and discipline' and petty BS from the depth of their experience. There's hope for the Air Force, but it's some time after a SERB and some mandatory retirements. Just my opinion. Anyone agree?

And by the way, HarryShadow would have a great avatar if it weren't for the Hercs.

There are very few, if any, support officers on this board. Some are worth a sh**, and some ain't. Next.

Isn't the Air Force force level about 3x the USMC?
