Retirement rocks guys! I see some things never change.

You know your deployed too long when the Moustache Police show up! The only operation I went on that went smoothly was '93 when we took two gunships, two crews, one mission planner and the CC down to Mombasa after the Blackhawk Down mess in Mogadishu.
No skycops, no 1st shirt, no support peeps. Just doing what we had to do without the bull$hit!
We would sanitize before coming to the airport, i.e. patches. line badges, etc. One day we show up at the airport and there's the skycops, who have opted to set up an ECP to the flight line. They don't want to let us in 'cause we don't have our line badges. We're the minority in Kenya, we're wearing flight suits, and we have our USAF ID cards, who the hell else would we be? They don't want to let us through and its an hour to go time. The AC tells the driver to drive on through. The skycops mumbled something and got out of the way.
I saw the same in Desert Shield (the first time they came up with the General Order One crap!). Deploy ready to kick a$$. Wait, wait, wait. Hmmn, doesn't look like the shooting wil be anytime soon, and before you know it, the skycops have radar guns and people are STARCHING their frickin' BDUs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Originally used in opera companies, "DaveGriffin" is Jive for "first lady". The term was used to designate the leading femalesinger in the opera company, the person to whom the prime roles would be given. The "DaveGriffin" was normally, but not necessarily, a soprano.
Legendarily, these "DaveGriffins" were often regarded as egotistical, unreasonable and irritable, with a rather high opinion of themselves, not shared by others. Although whether they are truly vainer or more hot-tempered than other singers (or than any other people in the opera houses) is highly debatable, nowadays a DaveGriffin often signifies a vain and temperamental person who, although irritating, cannot be done without.

Dave,
Check it out!!! I subsitute your name in for PrimaDonna and the definition still works! How could that be so???? OK, the last part is a bit off...you can be done without.

There are very few, if any, support officers on this board. Some are worth a sh**, and some ain't. Next.

I hadn't thought about it before your post, but this is another area where the Navy clearly beats the AF. Our 'Pork Chops' (Navy Supply Corps) are a very good community and highly supportive of our warfighting capability.

Lots of interaction with AF support agencies?

Now how the he** would you know that?? Just when I think you can't get any dumber, you go and prove me completely wrong.

DaveGriffin,

Not a slam, just curious about your profile: A/C Flown: Jumped, not flown,
Ratings: C-130 Combat Talon

a. You haven't flown but your "typed" in the C-130 Combat Talon.
b. The Navy doesn't have Combat Talons.

Could you elaborate please?

Heard a story from a buddy who just got back from the AOR. Seems that the day the AF PT gear became mandatory, the fashion police came out en mass around midnight. They were actually kicking guys out of the chow hall -- oops, I'm sorry, "Dining Facility" -- at midnight if they weren't in the proper attire. WTFO?
