I imagine Bloomberg, Hillary Clinton, and Charles Schumer (sp?) would argue with that. JB's upstate service for the last 7 years has created a lot of good will...[/QUOTE]

They would be gone in a NY minute if they couldn'y pay their bills. Having said that I don't believe that JB is headed that way with the Dave and David show running things. Unfortunately JB is still an experiment and it is a rapidly changing environment. I wish them the best but when nobody (delta, nwa, usair, united) went away in the last couple of years it hurt them tremendously.

Very few people buy tickets based on goodwill. Today people search websites and pick the lowest price, even if it's only a couple of bucks.
JB has the lowest costs and yet still doesn't make money. New rev management people are onboard, hopefully that will make a difference.

You UAL guys sure buy into everything....don't you?

Do you really believe that Mrs. Bobsled believes for even one second that she can come back to UAL after she has resigned? Nobody is that stupid.

You guys can believe anything you want...it is a free country. But FWIW, I think you all should buy this bridge I have to sell.......

Source is UAL MEC. Letter read to entire MEC from MsSled requesting her seniority as she was "disappointed" in the company (B6). She wanted to return as her seniority would have allowed her to return as a 767 Captain and the stability of the airline appeared to be leveling out. She was kind enough to point out that without her previous seniority she would just stay at B6. Thought that was really nice of her. So to answer your question as to whether we think for "one second" that she would do this, then YES we do as it happened.

As for buying anything, it appears you might have just purchased the myth that she did not want her old job back.

Can we send a few more your way?

Ms Luge, as you call her, is not looking for her old job or seniority. She's trying to be part of the solution at Jetblue. Whether or not they make it or you approve of her "act", she knew the consequences when she bailed. She was not furloughed--she resigned--and that's a horse of a different color.

You must be friends with her for such a strong defense. The UAL MEC read in session a letter from MsLuge asking for her return and her previous seniority. Perhaps she did not share that with you as I am sure it required a dose of crow to do so. However, she left UAL with some not so nice words to the group in a snitty letter and complained about her treatment. I guess she did not like to have all the time off she got to go ride a sled down a hill only to be abandoned by my crew just before the Olympics because she was too much of an overbearing person to be a team leader. But hey different slopes for different folks.

In her letter she moaned about being bumped from the 400 to the 777 and the hardship the crew rest area placed upon her. I get misty eyed just thinking about the poor thing and the struggles she had to overcome.

I just wonder how long it will be till she wears out her welcome at B6?

From all I have heard, IMHO she already did a while back.

United, on the other hand, is what is left of what was a glorious place. However--don't compare the company you are returning to with the one you left. QC the work rules, benefits, etc very closely. Also--United has proven when things get tough you are expendable. They are aggressively flirting with merging with someone or selling off some assets for cash flow.

Good luck...

Great Advice Albie,
But I gotta call ya out on the selling of assets rumor I keep hearing. Man that rumor has spun out of control. UAL has $5.1BILLION dollars with $4.2Billion in unrestricted cash...Compare that to any other legacy and were not doing so bad. I'm not saying every thing's peachy king but our cash reserves has increased every quarter. Not your classic cash flow problem.

Oh well food for thought in the guy's decision making process, but I do agree on your points about working conditions, pay , possible mergers, ect. But our MEC is aggressively pursuing those area's so I guess time will tell.

Regards

Koko
