ATPCliff's spreadsheet made me curious. What are your top 10 (or more if you like) airlines, in order? Why? Have they changed significantly since 9/11?

Without signifcant thought so far mine are:

1. American

Because we live in Fort Worth, won't move and commuting sucks, and they have long been my primary goal.

2. Southwest

See first reason and throw in that they evidently know how to treat people right.

3. American Eagle

Currently a lineholder living in domicile; good enough as long as I can pay the bills and put up with being in the FO seat.

4. USAirways

Because I already have a number there, but probably not for long.

5+ are now missing because of commuting and because I fear they just aren't worth it anymore.

1. Southwest
2. Southwest
3. Southwest
4. Southwest
5. Southwest
6. Southwest
7. Southwest
8. Southwest
9 Southwest
10. ASA ( just kidding)

1. Hooters Air
2. Hooters Air
3. Hooters Air
4. etc.

Top 10 to work for or to fly on? I'd work for Southwest, but I don't particularly care to fly in the back. I'd have to say the rest for work and all to fly in the back are foreign airlines unless you include Fedex and UPS to fly for. The US carriers have a hideous product for the customers and most have a hideous furlough and/ or reduced benefits and pay history.

Looking back in time in this order around 1964-69

Pan Am
TWA
WAL-CAL
AA-UAL
DAL
BNF-EAL
FTL
PSA

FedX, UPS, SWA not even on the radar yet. My how things can change. Hold that thought as you grab hold of this volitile career path. Many have gone before you so listen and learn from others misfortune and maybe, just maybe you will be lucky enough to dodge the silver bullet that has struck so many others before you.

Good Luck in whatever you choose!

ups was on the radar- just didn't have their own airline/fleet, yet.

Got news for you Johnny, UPS was no where in sight in 1969. It was not even a public company much less an airline or using a dedicated airlines like Orion for it's services. Just happened to sit in a meeting with all the UPS folks in early 1980 when they were trying decide what was their next avaition move and at that hour they had no avaition, in-house cpability. As they say, the rest is history.

Of course the rest is history and good for them as they have done a great job as far as the customer is concerned. Wait for the UPS guy to arrive as I write this.

1 UPS

2 FedEx

3 Southwest

4 Delta

5 American

6 United

7 jetBlue

8 GoJets

9 SkyBus

100 CAL

Wow, Pokemyhole Pilot negative towards CAL, imagine that. Your like the 'dumped girlfriend' who won't stop calling. Let it go, let go.

Funny thing about this Pocono skank; she bashes CAL every chance she gets, but when someone points out her post from 02-24-07 praising CAL and saying "I hope to be there soon.", she disappears, won't acknowledge anything... just hides out until her next opportunity to bash on CAL. Nice.

1- Fed Ex (Pay, QOL, Job security, and equipment)
2- UPS (Pretty much the same reasons)
3- Southwest (Job security, DAL base "home")
4- American (My "child" dream. Plus DFW base)
5- American Eagle (I'm already there and well job security is pretty good here)
7- Continental (Good equipment, good pay, and HOU base, I dont have to leave Texas)
8- Frontier (Good pay, good company, and Denver is ok)
9- Luftansa (Germany is nice and well, October fest!)
10- Quantas (Always liked Australia and their big a$$ equipment)

Then again, this list can chage in a few years.

Hey, Mr. my "child" dream! LOL :cartman: You by chance have a number 6, or are you trying an optical illusion?

she's just an attention whore. get rid of the attention and you'll get rid of the whore.

pretty simple. glad she/he/it doesn't work at CAL. Hiring department did a good job of seeing through he/she/its cowardly veil

Seeing how hindsight is 20/20 I'd fly for FedEx.

If I could go back a generation I'd pick TWA. The most happening joint in town for decades.

Gup

Maybe your # 6 was GoJets, hmm? If so, instructorclown can write you a letter of rec.

Day 1 of indoc at Gojets: "Welcome ladies and gentleman to the biggest clown outfit flying airplanes. You have just made the cut to the lowest form of the minor leagues. We must ensure you continue wearing your uniform to all local starbucks...especially during the high school spring breaks! Ipods, backpacks, 777 stickers for your flight bag, hair gel, and highlights for your hair (or frosted tips if you prefer) to make you look like a fruitcake will be issued on day 2. Again congrats on ruining your career - welcome!"

Hmm...Tell us your true feelings about Go Jets!

Eh it's all garbage anyway. None of the PFT pilots from the 90s "ruined their careers". Mesa pilots didn't "ruin their careers". Even Gulfstream intl pilots have succeeded in making it to the majors and getting furloughed like the rest of us.

The Go Jets pilots will be successful in spite of their career choices.

But as you stated above, you said you work for American Eagle, so why are you posting here?

Hey Mr. S. Crapdog. I changed your insulting post just slightly. Continental: the GoJets of the majors.

Oh yeah, that giant pay raise is coming in two years, I forgot. LOL

Congrats on your career choice.

My plan is to stick with a "winner" and go wherever Frank Lorenzo does...um wait a minute, he's going to HE double hockey sticks

(that's one reservation that will be honored for sure)

Good leadership leads to sound decision making by leadership and ultimately to a solid airline/business...Southwest

The real answer is anyone who will offer you a job!

Alright here you go...........................

1. Michigan: Big Ten favorites are loaded on offense. The defense has questions, like how a unit that was one of the best in school history unraveled against Ohio State and USC. Now it faces those NFL defections. But the Wolverines won't be tested (maybe) until a Nov. 3 game at Michigan State. The first four are at home.

2. USC: Still trying to understand why running back Marc Tyler signed in February and quarterback Mitch Mustain is considering transferring from Arkansas. Tyler is one of 10 first-team prep All-America running backs on the spring depth chart. At quarterback, backup Mark Sanchez has three years left. USC loves incoming freshman Aaron Corp, too. Is it possible to have too many good players?

3. West Virginia: With two Heisman candidates (Steve Slaton and Patrick White), this might be the nation's most explosive offense. The difference between Big East title and national title is the defense. Rich Rodriguez has to quit winning shootouts.

4. LSU: What does it say that in his third season, quarterback Ryan Perrilloux is still not a threat to lead the Tigers? Senior Matt Flynn has been the loyal soldier and will be the quarterback. Unfortunately, the whole season revolves around him. Flynn will have to channel Matt Mauck get the Tigers to the top.

5. Florida: With grizzled veteran Tim Tebow now at quarterback, the Gators will be going downfield more. That's bad, bad news for opponents who couldn't cope with Chris Leak. There's a lot of payback out there in the SEC. One suggestion: Bring in Joakim Noah for a preseason talk about defending a championship.

6. Wisconsin: The Next Great Young Coach, Bret Bielema, goes into '07 with the second-best team in the Big Ten. The Wolverines were their only loss last year. As usual, the biggest question is quarterback. This being Wisconsin, it doesn't seem to matter. You might watch, though, Kansas State dual-threat transfer Allan Evridge.

7. Louisville: The Cardinals remained title contenders the moment Brian Brohm decided to stay for his senior year. Louisville lost its head coach (Bobby Petrino) and defensive coordinator (Keith Patterson), but the program should continue to run seamlessly. The defense will have to start making some plays to get to the championship level. It cost the Cards in that shocking loss to Rutgers.

8. Texas: The 'Horns had three great -- not good -- defensive backs last year. So how did they finish 99th in pass defense? That number suggests the loss of Thorpe Award winner Aaron Ross, Tarell Brown and Michael Griffin won't be that big a deal. But it's an area Mack Brown will have to shore up.

9. UCLA: One of the best quarterback battles in the country is shaping up with junior Pat Cowan going against junior Ben Olson. Cowan started eight games last season after Olson was injured, throwing for 1,700 yards. Olson, in his 37th year of eligibility, is the better physical specimen. Cowan has the love and momentum from that USC victory.

10. Oklahoma: The Sooners have had more than 3½ months to stew in the juices of that Boise State loss -- on DVD for $24.95 if you can't get enough. A season of upheaval and the loss of Adrian Peterson suggest a down year. Bob Stoops has your down year right here. The spring will be spent finding a new quarterback. Oklahoma might be just as good at running back with plenty of depth.
