Got sick of that ALPA crap on my neck

Your sick of showing support for the organization that is committed to protecting you? You'd rather make a fashion statement than show solidarity with your piers?

There is a reason why ALPA hands these lanyards out and its not so you don't have to go out and buy one for yourself.

"Piers are specifically designed to show solidarity, regardless of what anyone chooses to wear." -Blucher

No you are both wrong.

Piers are structures built on posts extending from land out over water, used as a landing place for ships, an entertainment area, a strolling place, etc.

Yeah but when a Mesa sh*tbag walks around wearing one it makes me throw up in my mouth.

its great...to be.....a florida GATORRRR!

I saw, with my own eyes, a PSA guy who actually did have his ID's on a gold rope chain. This was in the E-gates crew room at PIT back in the day that PSA was flying the 328's.

I reckon that'll save you from the SAM or the plastique that gets smuggled on board?

If you try to make yourself safe from everything, you would never come out from under your bed, so while I acknowledge the SAM threat, no, the clippy tie and breakaway lanyard won't help.

As for the plastique, the tie and lanyard might could make a difference there if said explosive were to be used to blow the latch out of the cockpit door.

I do not find it likely that my 50 seat RJ is high on the list as far as terrorist targets are concerned. However something as simple as not providing a pre-installed leash and/or garrotte to someone who means me harm is an easy precaution.

Secondarily, a long time ago I nearly lost a finger when my wedding ring caught on the windshield frame of a boat. The process of shearing the flesh from the bone was underway when the windshield frame broke. By that token, we do work around machinery. Not that I find it likely to happen, but the clippy tie and the lanyard will prevent my head from being drawn into and crushed by a belt loader.

I don't wear a helmet to protect myself from meteors when I'm cutting my grass, but I do wear a seatbelt when I drive and safety glasses when working with power tools.

How about that UF vs UK hoops games last night? Tense ending!

Yeah...that final shot would have been money with just a tad more zip on the ball! Great game though...UF is stacked when Kentucky can't race to a lead at home with Florida's best players on the bench...

I really wasn't worried about Jihadists anyway.....It's the FAs that scare me!!

So I can keep my clippy tie and bead-chain lanyard????

Depends on if you want the FA's to be able to lead you around by the neck. For whatever reason, good or bad. :)

Perhaps the sarcasm didn't come through. Perhaps I am overly comfortable. But the reality is that if they are going to get us, they are going to get us. It just doesn't even cross my mind. Certainly not to the extent that I choose my neckwear based on fear of some jamook choking me in the cockpit.

Like I said, maybe I am to cavalier. I worry more about saving for retirement that terrorists. I let the FFDO dorks worry about that stuff.

I use a ratty ol' shoelace. Sort-o blackish grey in color and smells great.
good times.

I wear a "quick release" lanyard and I've hooked it on enough random things to appreciate the feature. The terrorist thing is a secondary and remote concern.

And knowing where buscap works I can understand his concern about the FAs. I wouldn't want most of them grabbing me either.
