Well Said!

People bash us for not learning english and now we get made fun of for speaking english?? I see it's a no win situation for us. It would be nice if people kept thier comments to themself.
That's what this forum is for, COMMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

golly

Hey Y'all, (there's an accent for you) aparently, you missed the intent of the original post. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. What I found funny about the example was the way in which ORD handles things. If anyone is being poked fun at, it is the lack of familiarity Air Mexicana Pilots have with ORD. They are the only ones given such special treatment. The story would have been less offensive to some if the "Unidentified Airliner" chuckles weren't included. Leaving that out would have been like not reporting the entire incident. That is the real world. Get upset with the "Unidentified airliner" not me.

If you want to rant about the way some pilots make fun of other pilots on ATC, start your own thread and have at it. It certainly would be different than complaining about pay, schedules, and the like. After all, that is what really brings us all together

Then they should!!! People are too sensitive, LAUGH a LITTLE!!!!!!!!!!

I laugh, they laugh, I even laugh at my accent, but I don't make fun of anyone on frequency. Why do you need to put someone down in public, does that make you more of a pilot, or more of a man?

Sorry for hijacking your thread man.
I didn't take any offense, it was just a comment. I enjoy having fun at the expense of the radio as much as you. Maybe I ave the wrong impression.

Now back to the original topic.

We were inbound to MCI # 2 behind a FedEx airbus. Approach comes up and says "5 mike golf, are you considered small ? " (obviously for wake purposes) and without skipping a beat, my PNF says "not by those who know me". It took him about 30 seconds to come back up and he was laughing. The FedEx guys even said "hey, you asked"

Washington Center: "American 123 are you on the frequency?"

American 123 (female voice garbled): "Say again for American 123, I had something in my mouth."

Dead silence--but everybody knew.

A true story.

You should hear american pilots trying to speak spanish in mexican airspace, now that's funny. And the mexican don't make fun of them, now that's respect.
I try to toss in a polite word or two in the native language, but we're not required to speak anything but English. Thank you, ICAO. :)

Actually thanks to ICAO pilots from other countries are a bit more accomplished, they speak two languages!

Why are English speaking pilots speaking Spanish? The King's english is the official language of the ICAO.

Because they want to practice their spanish, or like Tony C said, they just want to toss in a polite word or two. Nothing wrong with that, in fact I think it's good, you get a better treatment.

Yeah, they're not making fun of that we know of. Human nature they're doing it too. Besides we won the bloody war, English is the common aviation language...........

Wow, what an intelligent 1st post KO. Welcome. Dork.
Hi cool JetPilot....it may be my first post but I have been reading these boards for about four years......the reason I dont post much (actually at all) is because of ignorant comments made by many on here. I understand mine was ignorant as well but if you are going to talk smack about someone, you might as well get the smack talk right dont you think? Thanks for the welcome! nerd.
