Interesting response when you consider people are needlessly being killed and maimed in Iraq and millions of Americans are losing everything they worked for while a handful are getting rich.

Well i don't see FEDEX or Brown losing pensions???? do you ???? Oh wait no dirty bum in a nightshirt took control of any cargo ops planes on 911. Fault lies with the Cliton admin, not Bush. Lack of intelligence led to 911. A tragedy. 8 years of nonsense intelligence then the reins are passed to Bush and its his fault. The economy has suffered ever since 911. Our involvement overseas stemmed from our homeland being attacked. I don't think IRAQ was right at all. I have family serving there. Bush isn't the answer i KNOW.

Since your so in the know, who are the handful that are getting rich?
The small business owners? or just big oils businesses? OR are you watching ABC, NBC, CBS, or CNN for your information?

When I say a few are getting rich at the expense of millions I'm talking about people like Michelle Burns and the numerous other Delta Execs who have huge golden parachutes. Al Checci and his crew who leveraged a debt free NWA to line their pockets, how many millions did Steven Wolf walk off with at the expense of thousands of USAir employee's? Enron, GM, "Chainsaw Al Dunlop"? Lorenzo, Orenstein. The 400 or so managers at UAL who will get rich while some retiree's will lose most of the income they were depending on just to meet basic human needs(food, shelter and medical care) The list goes on and on. Our corporate "leaders" no longer build companies, they line their pockets.

I hate to say it but if oil hasn't retreated by now, the winter months, then $50-$60 per barrel oil will be the norm for the future. We are in the lowest demand months and the oil market is still strongly supporting $58/ barrell. Not to mention it's sensitivity to price shocks. OPEC is in bed with Chevron, Anadarko, Exxon and Unocal. Together with the Russians, Venezuelans, Brits and Brazilians they are going to keep oil absolutely as high as the market will allow. And the market has no problem supporting $60 oil.

Wait until next summer. It will approach $68 per barrel. And lets not forget all of the oil rigs that are still lying on the bottom of the Gulf or Mexico. It will be years before those rigs come back on line.

I fully expected oil to retreat, but if it's able to stay this high through the winter of '06 then the oil companies have us and we'll be paying with our first born for this commodity for the rest of our lives.

BTW, I heard a report yeaterday that attacks in Iraq now average 700 per week. Since this was on NPR, I challenge the validity of such a statement. But if it's even halfway true, we ain't even close to getting an upper hand in Iraq. So long as the Mid East reamins unstable there will remain a catalyst to bidding up higher oil by the market speculators.

I agree with everything you said there. But, you're mistaken if you believe it's a Republican politician problem. I'd say it's a US politician/no business ethics problem. Follow the $$$. Kerry is great friends with Fred Smith (just like Bush). Ken Lay hosted fundraisers at Tereas Heinz Kerry's house. The dotcom boom/bust and seeds of all the recent lapses in bidness ethics were sown during the late 90s (under Clinton's "watch"). Do I blame him for that? No. I blame greed, greed, and greed. That's not unique to any particular political party.

The rest of your stuff about US foreign policy was just dumb. Happy New Year.

Magnum,
You are doing a fine job on your own proving my point with all of your posts! Keep up the good work. Bush and O'Reilly would be Proud.

BTW....Happy Holidays!

Yeah, I had a hard time finding all the factual inaccuracies reported on FoxNews, too. Thanks for trying, though. Didn't have the same problem finding blatant bias/flat-out falsehoods on AP and Reuters, though.

You can actually see the various inconsistencies when you check out about 10 different news sources a day. You should try it sometime. There's newspapers, website, cable channels, blogs....all kinds of media these days. Widen your view, and stop thinking in such simple red state/blue state terms. Happy New Year.

Hurricane Andrew, That was handeled nicely. This was prior to the other bush worming his was into the Florida Governors mansion by the way.
Two world wars were started in the balkans, a third wasn't, guess that was done with no regrets and no U.S. casualty lists. Yes I would tell members of the Texas ANG they were ChickenHawks in the late 60's to early 70's. A lot of us would have perfered such an easy post but Nixon had other ideas for the sons of working class Americans. We got our first look at Cheany and Rumsfledt during the "retreat with honor" and the WhiteHouse micro managed mess in Cambodia retreveing the Mayaguez. Marines left on the beach to be beaten to death as a form of execution. Later while cheany was kissing Saddam's feet the crew of the USS Stark got another kind of visit. Later the guys forced into a barracks in Beriut by the reagan and bush whitehouse, might have issue with the competency of the afore mentioned party. Only the survivors though. Oil prices? I remember 80 cents/gallon with Clinton. Osama? Was Tora Bora just mis-managed, typical bush, or did they mean to let a family friend escape?

Greed

Magnum, you are spot on about greed, and it works because just about all politicians are in corporate pockets. To paraphrase about the only intelligent thing a late-sixties southern politician said: democrats, republicans, there's not a dimes worth of difference. We need a MAJOR overhaul to our political system, and I wish I had the answer to that. (Would it start by electing an Arizona politician?)

btw, I think lowecur is actually a psychologist. He really know how to push a button that ignites flamethrowers en masse.

Wow,

Thanks Magnum, I think I see the light now. Switch the channel a few times for a more balanced source of news. NEWS FLASH GENIUS, that was the point I was trying to make with my original post!
Oh, but wait a minute, I'm sorry I forgot the point you were making, that FOX news reports only the truth. Why would I have to switch channels? I'm confused Magmum which is it? FOX can be trusted or FOX is like all the rest of the cable news stations, full of crap??? My god you flip-flop more than Kerry!

You ever think about putting down the remote and tabloids for a book?

I don't speak for most on here, but what amazes me, is how far some people will go to defend their political parties. You are no better than the people condoning Clinton's behavior in the White House.

BTW, I don't care if you are RED or BLUE just get the damm job done!

Happy New Year!

Well, genius, I guess we agree about a few things then. BTW, I know it helps you make your argument, but saying 'you think Fox only reports the truth' is a a little different than me saying 'show me examples of reporting bias from Fox.' Happy New Year, and I hope everything works out for y'all in '06.

Obviously, we see events a lot differently. However, being RE-elected by almost 60% of the state despite being DNC target #1 in 2002 hardly qualifies as "worming" your way into the Guv mansion.

And I'll say it for the record: Jeb Bush is a much, much better executive than his brother. We'd all be better off if Jeb was in the WH instead of GW. It's a shame there's no way the country will give another Bush a crack at the presidency anytime soon. Everyone would be pleasantly surprised with Jeb in my opinion.
