I wouldn't go overweight. I would improvise a little though...

1. Fill all empty spaces with helium balloons.
2. Fly without the doors.
3. Does the airport have a catapult?

Can anyone else help improvise?
While you're messing around with helium you ought to fill the tires with it as well; also, you can fill the oxygen tank-oops, it's a 172, sorry.

You also ought to consider flying around with full flaps. Sure it will cost you a little drag, but you'll get oh so much more lift.

Drain some of that oil out of the engine - you don't really need all of it anyway.

Finally, I'd leave behind all of your charts and, of course, the POH. You're not going to look at that stuff anyway.

Here's another. Warmer fuel weighs less than cold fuel (per gallon). Just have the fuel heated to about 300°F. This be enough to take 25 lbs off.
Hahahaha...now there's a "critical thinker"! :)

Tell the girlfriend to get on the f'in treadmill once or twice a week. That'll take care of it.

On second thought, it's much safer to just fly the plane over gross.
