A hypothetical question.

Say you had a "medical incident" over 5 years ago. There was no medical record of this and it wasn't something that would show up on any test. This incident had never manifested itself since and didn't predispose you to another incident. While the incident was something that the FAA might take an interest in reviewing, they would just end up having you checked out before OKing you. Since the incident had no lasting effect, you will check out fine.

Would you report this for your medical?

How sure are you that this problem won't manifest itself in the future? To me, that's the big issue here. I fly a plane with a pretty rediculous amount of redundancy, but my body is still a single point of failure (it's not a two pilot airplane). If I go, the plane and passengers will likely go with me.

This happened to a friend. It took him a couple of years and several batteries of test where they were unable to duplicate his problem before the FAA gave him his medical back. He flies for a major now. I think I would keep my mouth shut if you were confident it wasn't going to happen again.

Around here, we had a guy named Monfils that was murdered while at work in a paper mill. His co-workers were stealing property from the company, and he used an anonymous line to tip the police.

The criminal co-workers were upset that they were caught stealing, so they asked the police department who told on them. The police gave them Monfils' name, and they promptly killed him at work.

There were about 15 or so people that were involved, but nothing could be proved in court because everyone kept their mouth shut.

About 5 years after the fact, one of the main criminals begain spouting his mouth off while at a bar, and the whole lot of them were convicted for conspiricy.

A number of the conspiritors protested that they were "innocent" (they didn't directly kill Monfils). I HATE people like that. Of course they were guilty. They knew exactly who did what in the murder and wouldn't say anything, and then they have the gall to complain they shouldn't be punished because they weren't involved.

Oh my God! Those cops ought to be criminally prosecuted for leaking out this! The family ought to sue the pants off the police department as well. I can't imagine the civil judgement against the involved cops would be anything less than astronomical!! Our world seems to be getting more dangerous by the day.

I wouldn't report any thing I haven't consulted a physician about. There is no paper trail, there is no incident! Never give the beauracrat a reason to fill out a form!

I guess you have to take it all into context... I've been knocked uncouncious doing certain activities, and I also passed out doing another (no, not sex though I wish). What are you to do? I was doing some stuff far beyond what most people are doing (high alititude), but I'm not going to report it. Too much paperwork and franky n/a. Is this your situation??
