No they don't. Just handle it.
The answer is to cycle between high and regular- recirc fans on and off. In maybe 5 min intervals
With the recirc fan off, the supply gets much colder than it does with recircs on, but less airflow. So you get the supply cold in high- then get recircs on blowing that cold air at the better volume until supply warms too much and repeat

So SWAPA or someone needs to put out a handy piece of paper in a mailbox that tells us what the hell is the right way to keep from cooking passengers. I am good at flipping switches as ordered, just wish it was the correct order. Back to ironing my blazer.

The annual "how to best cool the AC when it's 2000 degrees in the cabin" RBF, written by someone who sits in an air conditioned office, (but has a true understanding of the systems), and hasn't flown the line in years, should be out any day now.

And it will be opposite of the recommendations made last year.

The best advice, particularly in a Classic, is to not let it get too hot in the first place. They're all a little different too. The "Packs on high for a minute, then back to auto" works great on some of them, but definitely not all.

Some take hours to cool down, even airborne. I had a heat soaked 300 (sat on the ramp in TPA for 3 hours with the doors closed and NO ground air) last summer where it took over an hour for the cockpit temp to go below 90 degrees after taking off. It never got below 85 before landing in RDU. The cabin temp was slightly cooler. The PCA in RDU actually cooled it off better then both packs.

Now best way to cool off Pilots, get the FAs to give you that sick sack with ice in it on your neck, love that
 
He's actually a very good guy, although I think his "routine" proves he should probably stick to flying airplanes. :D

The "Daily Mail" is the bigger joke, though, for even running this "story". Seriously? This is news? The Daily Mail is the bigger joke, IMHO.

Ever consider waiting until it's a bit cooler?

I will not board a heat soaked airplane until it is cool enough. Period.

It takes a lot less time to cool an empty airplane than one with a 143, constant 98.6 degree heating elements sitting in the area you are trying to cool.

Safety first, comfort second.

Anytime a captain "goes to the back" for a welcome PA, it's never going to be good.

Every flight on Virgin I believe. Sometimes it's fine.
I personally go with the Oz man behind the curtain

Just got to know and do you and not take advantage of the captive audience just to hear your own voice in an attempt to get everyone else to think you're as special as you think you are.
Personally I think people want short, pleasant, professional and confidence inspiring--- quick, relevant info and then to shut up so they can get back to doing their thing. If you can do a genuine joke that goes over and won't get you fired in a 3 second 1-liner, knock yourself out. If not, save it for the bar

It's why I'm so long winded and cocky on FI-- get it out of my system so I'm not tempted to be that in real life
