The article I saw indicated Cerebus Capital was the major lien holder on World and refused to offer additional financing. North American is undergoing evaluation by the same beancounters (yes, NA is owned by the same holding company as World).

With the drawdown in the sandbox and the evaporation of government contracts, I fear for North American's future as well. Sad.

I love this PROFESSION but I hate this BUSINESS.

Well put,

As one Buddy told me before he hit the silk leaving there..."peace is breaking out and we got nothing else"

Best of luck to them

Sad thing is I heard the same stuff at Gemini when we went under, and Evergreen, too many of these companies relied on AMC. Where Atlas was smart is to diversify and owns 75% of the commercial market now for ACMI.

BTW ... good to see you still on here (FMS-speed here my former name).

To this day I remember his name and World Airways from a book that made an impression on me as a teenager.

I'm sorry to hear this, my best to all affected.

Thanks for the links. Several guys over there were trying to get on at US. Tough competition though, unfortunately none of them got called. I know one though just got on at Spirit. Best of luck to the rest.

I ate dinner with a friend last night who was working there, he said he didn't know day to day if he had a job.

Well, he knows today. If he's a young gun, he's got a shot at a major, what with all the geezers retiring. Non-Sked's great fun when you're young but you're only as good as your last contract. RIP World Airways.

great stories... refreshing and heartwarming to hear stories of such integrity and valor...sad to see them go

They don't make them like that anymore...neither the planes nor the pilots.
