Who thinks the the Israelis will hit Iran first? Will the US take part in the action? If not, how will they do it without us knowing about it?

Just curious to what everyone thinks.

If past history is any indication, Israel isn't going to wait around for someone else to save their asses. They've got a hostile nation attempting to develop nukes with at least one of their stated goals being elimination of Israel. Fight's On!

Thats exactly what I am thinking. I'm just curious how they could pull it off without US cooperation since they have to fly over Iraq. Of course, we probably would have no problem with them doing that, but I'm also thinking that we would "look surprised" when it happens if ya know what I mean...

Oh there are a couple of avenues the Isrealis can take. They have some of their newer longer range stuff, F-16I's, maybe via Turkey (who they have been getting closer and closer to these last few years). Or they also have their Dolphins. Or their special forces, Flotilla 13 I believe.

We've got unfinished business over in Iran. Those MF'ers, we clean up that mess and I predict the Middle East will stabilize, over the long term.

Lets Roll!

Israel would probably not make it to Iran without our support. None of their fighters would make it there and back without refueling. Even if they hit Iran on their own, we'd still be the ones responsible to the rest of the world. We all know by now that the US is damned if we do and damned if we don't. Everyone wants peace on Earth, but nobody has the balls to step up and do something about it. Israel does though. They don't mess around.

The Iranians and their nutbag leader have had a beating coming to them for 25 years or so now. Too bad, their younger generation is much more liberal but doesn't look like they'll have enough time to transform the country. Tough luck.

I agree. If the Israelis feel their very existance is threatened, they will act. They have some tanker aircraft, but would likely need more for the scale of strike that would be needed to shut the Iranian nuclear program down for a very long time. If they don't get support from us, they'll send aircraft in one-way if they have to. There are probably four different targets that would have to be hit. And, of course, in the normal Islamic extremist way of doing things, the Persians will most likely cluster innocent civilians around the nuclear facilities to maximize their own casualties.

The Persians are errily reminicent of the Nazi's in the 1930s. Like Hitler, the psychopath that passes for a leader in Iran, has very clearly announced Iran's intentions. Of course, the rest of the Islamic world will soft pedal his direct and clear threats as "mis-translations" for the consumption of the useful fools in Hollywood. The Arab leaders in the region are too stupid, fat, and decadent to realize that if Israel is attacked with a nuclear weapons, the entire middle east will become a glass parking lot. The failure of the Muslim world to take action against their extremists will send them all into the abyss. The Europeans have their heads so far up their arses that they don't have a clue. They're out of the fight.

Stifler's mom asked: Didn't Israel take out what was believed to be a Nuclear Plant in Iran many, many years ago?

Actually, they hit Osirik, Iraq in 1981. I googled Osirik; this was the first thing that came up:

Raid on the Iraqi Reactor

(June 7, 1981)

Iraq built the Osirak nuclear facility near Baghdad with French assistance. When intelligence confirmed Iraq's intention of producing weapons there, the Israeli government decided to attack. However, the raid would have to occur before the reactor went “hot” so as not to endanger the surrounding community.
Every detail of the mission was planned meticulously. The target was distant: 1,100 km from Israel. Preparations included building target mockups and flying full scale rehearsal missions. The aircrews were selected from the cream of the Israel Air Force's (IAF) fighter corps.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Rafael (Raful) Eitan, briefed the pilots personally. Displaying unusual emotion, he told them: “The alternative is our destruction.”
At 15:55 on June 7, the first F-15 and F-16s roared off the runway from Etzion Air Force Base in the south. After a tense but uneventful low level navigation route, the fighters reached their target. They popped up at 17:35 and quickly identified the dome gleaming in the late afternoon sunlight.
Enemy defenses were caught by surprise and opened fire too late. In one minute and twenty seconds, the reactor lay in ruins.

The way home was quiet, bringing the mission to its successful completion. It was a perfectly orchestrated opera conducted by the IAF Commander, Maj. Gen. David Ivry. At least for the present, the atomic genie of Baghdad was put back into his bottle. Source: Israel Defense Forces.
