Quote from an airline analyst:

Airline financial analysts such as Vaughn Cordle of AirlineForecasts LLC expect a brutal war of attrition in Denver. Republic-controlled Frontier is unlikely to win unless Republic replaces some of Frontier's Airbus aircraft with its own regional jets flown by pilots making substantially less than what Frontier pilots are paid.

He estimates that Frontier's pilots cost the carrier $170 an hour in wages and benefits, compared with $99 an hour for Republic's regional jet pilots; Southwest's pilots cost $290 an hour, he estimates.

DISGUSTING. Republic pilots should be ashamed, but these snot-nosed turkeys don't realize they're destroying their very futures.

Pssh..
What is even worse, as managers and CEOs continue to drive for lower and lower wages... they are destroying their companies' own consumer base. Welcome to the end, gentlemen.

I know! I can't believe RAH pilots wanted their airline to buy Midwest and Frontier so bad that they gave concessions in order for Bedford to do it.

Oh, wait....

Big problem here...RAH's contract with UAL will almost certainly result in their termination if they start operating RAH aircraft in DEN for F9.

I don't believe RHA cares about that. I think they are in this for only themselves with no strings attached to UAL or DAL.

So F9 crews are currently paid $120/hr LESS than SW crews, and yet this "analyst" says that F9 can't compete? F9 has been competing quite well until now, and will continue to maintain it's loyal customer base UNTIL Bedford CHANGES the way F9 does business. To date, Bedford has NOT indicated he plans to radically alter the F9 business model, nor does he plan to put RAH crews on F9 airplanes. Even after a full integration of seniority lists, RAH pilots will not likely touch an Airbus for years. Passengers will have no reason to stop flying F9. The F9 codeshare with YX will only help to give F9 passengers more destinations to choose from, and less reason to switch to SWA. Sure, SWA can undercut F9 fares, but they have been able to do that sine the first day they flew out of Denver. F9 has still been profitable despite the low fares of SWA. Is it realistic to think that SWA will go nuts trying to kill F9 in Denver next month just because they did not win the F9 bid? F9 passengers will continue to fly on F9 airplanes flown by F9 pilots and be served by F9 flight attendants on F9 routes. They will have access to a somewhat wider route system via Midwest, and RAH may add destinations for F9 passengers with additional Airbus or embraer aircraft. F9 passengers can connect to many mountain destinations that SW cannot serve, thanks to the Lynx Q400. F9 should continue to hold its own for some time. Sorry to disappoint.

It's all a plan so that when UAL and US Airways go chapter 7, RAH can easily transition those planes to their own operation with little down time.

Yeah, UAL will cancel the contract with RAH just like they did when RAH flew for F9 a few years ago. Oh wait, that didn't happen either. Shuttle America and Chautauqua fly for UAL not Republic. One list, four (soon to be seven) different airlines.
Sheesh... why cant you guys keep this stuff straight? :p

Thank you for your expert analysis. But I am still hoping for a quick death to RAH.

I have a lot of respect foor RAH. They have taken a lot of heat in the past for not being good enough, and now they're coast to coast with jets and two major airline acquisitions. Guess who will be the big dog this time next year?

Actually a bit of a difference. A few years back, RAH flew "for" F9. They didn't have their own airline to directly compete against UAL on their hometurf.

There is the difference..."Tweeter" now why don't you go back on "Twitter" where you belong.

Yep- and once QOL and pay get good enough, some other crappy operation will undercut them and the will all get furloughed.

One thing about this industry-It is crappy... When things start to look less crappy, you had better hold onto your butt, because there is some snotnose little kid from ERAU out there ready and willing to take your job for the priviledge of flying for 1/3 your pay. (Mommy and daddy will make sure Jr. doesn't have to go on food stamps.)

-There is no limit to how low pilots will set the bar.
