Obviously, the didn't agree to it. It was a negotiated document. There was no final agreement until the MEC voted on it.

They voted it down, so, ipso facto they didn't agree to it.

You really need a lesson in Union process.

"You really need a lesson in Union process."

Ok, you contend that the MC operated in a vacuum and that the MEC did not have any idea of what the MC was doing?

Exactly. A good MEC gives the NC their desired goals in a negotiation and lets the NC to the job. Then they evaluate the results and decide to approve or disapprove them.

A poor MEC sticks their nose into the negotiation room at every opportunity and attempts to micromange the results.

Fubi is exactly right.

There are three committees at ALPA airlines that have independece from the MEC.

1) Merger
2) Negotiating
3) Retirement and Insurance

At most ALPA airlines, these three committees are built differently, and are made up of members that are elected and vetted in a completely different process than normal committees.

This is done to provide a measure of independence from the MEC to ensure than no one minority interest can hold the committee hostage. The MEC can provide guidance and input, but it is done in a formal setting, usually at MEC (normal or special) meetings, to ensure everything is on the record and out in the open.

lol

Yeah man 1700 of us thought this deal was awesome but the 7 LEC reps did not agree with us.

What planet are you from birdman?

LOL, actually Todd, I am sorry, JT12345, I am from reality...that reality is that 1737 pilots are being held hostage by 6 angry men and an emotionally unstable woman. They are playing an unnecessary game with their career. The majority wants a vote. If they cannot grant them this, than recalls and lawsuits must precede because the outcome will get very serious.
I have to ask you JT12345…are you from make believe world?

Of course not, since that would be a violation of the Process Agreement that SWA management signed along with SWAPA and ALPA. But I'm sure Gary has far more honor than to violate the agreements that he has signed in good faith.

Please give it a rest. MANY of us are sick of your inability to realize what is going on around you. You crazy 7 think you are protecting us from ourselves. You are not! You are listening to POOR advise from ALPA lawyers and risking our careers in the process. Could ALPA sue if this doesn't work out according to the process agreement? I am sure they would. Meanwhile 1700 pilots lose their jobs and wait for the measly payoff we would get IF we won the lawsuit 10 years down the road AND AFTER THE LAWYERS GET PAID! STOP IT. Don't you realize the advise you Are getting is only so ALPA can continue getting their dues from us. Well I for one am tired of you and the others trying to decide my future. Just give the deal for a vote and see EXACTLY what ALL the pilots want, not just the vocal minority.

It's been said you don't f*ck with a mans livelihood. And that is what you are doing. Go work for ALPA. I frankly don't care. But leave my job out of your grand pursuit.

You realize that you're responding to a post from over two weeks ago, and the MEC has now already decided to send the agreement out for a vote, right? Calm down.

PCL,

I'd be pissed too if I were in Old Man's shoes! Watching you and your cohorts these last few months has been downright painful.
