I was speaking about one person, and this was a reply to a very rude comment he made, and it was specifically directed toward him.

So you see it is really not all that different. You are biased against heavy drivers and this was another example. Wiggle wagging doesn't work when you're busted. You slam the heavy drivers, and make you case through one example, actually your opinion mof one example.

ALPA ran out on CAL, it doesn't justify SCABS though, you can have all the ALPA you can swallow.

No, my pin does not have a star on it, and I hope it never will. Since yours does have a star, you deserve a special thanks and my sincere gratitude for your three months of sacrafice. Because of the unity and solidarity that you and all of your former colleagues displayed (except for the two that made "the list"), the bar has been raised a bit and we can all benefit from that. My flight case still has the "Get Real" sticker on it and it'll stay there until it disintegrates.

If you are USAir Express pilot, WOed, it keeps them guessing.

And I have a Mainline pin on my hat also, hey, its what PDT issued me, its to much work to get an Express pin.

They have to look real hard to see that I am Piedmont, my I.D. in those real small print "Piedmont Airlines".

I say Hi to everyone while I'm in CLT, I usually get a responce from most guys and gals.

I have had the occasional "steathy" snide remark a couple of times while deadheading in the jumpseat on a mainliner, but I attribute that to the fact I fly an overgrown supercub and have lots of fun while they are pushing buttons and auto landing.

Just kidding, I had to throw that in.

Boy do you have a lot to learn.

A couple of facts for you: In 83, around 400 CAL ALPA members who "proudly wore their ALPA pin" crossed the picket line.

This was followed by another 700 or 800 ex ALPA members of other airlines "who proudly wore an ALPA pin" but crossed our line.

I spent 25 months on strike and I do not wear the ALPA pin (nor any other for that matter). There are a few other full term strikers who do not wear it either.

Point is, a pin does not guarantee anything when it comes to nut crunching time.

I guess I'll do without your friendly nod then. I think I'll live.
 
Off track

Well the thread is going a little off track, no big deal I thought that it would. Anyway, whether or not you see an ALPA pin on me depends upon whether or not I have on my good tie. I usually reserve it for jumpseating home, but I occasionally manage to catch a flight at the end of a trip and don't have time to change. So don't assume anything by an ALPA pin, or the lack thereof.

The Star

The star on top of the pin means that that member of ALPA has been on strike.
In response to one of the other posters, what does he mean by "the two that got on the list", no Comair pilot crossed the picket line, what he has said is outrageous, as a member of ALPA I would caution him on making any other slanderous remarks.

I think he is refering to the two retired Comair pilots that repositioned two aircraft from BNA to DAY and MCO to CKB. They are on the latest version of the list.

You're right, LR. My apologies for contributing to the depression. Kinda reminds me of the old joke: What does an airline pilot say halfway through his date? Well, that's enough about flying, let's talk about me.


In all fairness, it was kind of a loaded question, and was bound to "go there".

Nobody says Hi to me, the guy wearing Carharts and the flannel shirt, nobody 'cept security that is, 'cause the metal detector loves them brass rivets and my steel toe boots.

Going back to the original topic (who says hi in the terminal), I think that anything we can do as pilots to change our perceived image by ground crews as overpaid, underworked, primadonna assholes goes a long way.

I always try to say hi to the CSRs, mechanics, and bag smashers I see walking around the terminal or the ramp. I try to at least give a nod to anyone in a pilot or F/A uniform.

I don't look for an ALPA pin first :rolleyes: because unlike Prop-Trash I have better things to do in life than figure out what all the pilot uniforms are and who might be at an ALPA carrier and not wearing their pin vs who doesn't work at an ALPA carrier and therefore won't even own a pin. Plus I consider APA, SWAPA, etc. to be a perfectly legitimate unions and I don't even know what their pins look like....

Being through a strike must have been tough and 90 days off without pay is a bitch. No one is arguing with you there. Hopefully you will never be furloughed, cuz 3+ uncertainty-ridden years off without or at greatly reduced pay and quality-of-life (what it will turn out to be for many people) is just as bad. Hey, do I get a special pin from ALPA for being furloughed????
 
I say hello to everyone I can in uniform and also to alot of folks who arent. I dont look for a pin or count the # of stripes or if the guy is 121/135/91. Life these days in the airline/corporate flying business is hard enough; the least we can do is give each other a courtesious hello. "Cant, cant we all just get along, i mean really, cant we just do that?" LOL

an ACA guy.
