I did too. Anybody who finds Daytona Beach great fun needs to get their head checked, and their medical revoked.

And no college isn't always about drinking and partying, however that IS part of the college experience, and it's something that Riddle is SEVERLY missing....The only thing to do here is DRINK, to get away from the sorrows of knowing you're pissing your life away going to an above-average college, paying out the ass for tuition.

There is plenty to do, if you have friends. If not, then I understand your plight.

Not Grove but my freshman year tuition was $3800 a semester full time ('96). Being a business student I wasn't paying for flight, so that saved me a ton.

Don't let anyone put down the education you are getting there.

I never doubted the quality of the education

What I doubt is the outrageous costs that this school demands, with their ridiculous explinations as to why it is so.

However Ebbs is no longer president, so hopefully things will look a little less like a business, and more like a damn educational institution.

They're plenty to do if you have friends that have cars, which I do...However note the gas prices around here as of late.

Most of the things here in Daytona get old if you spend the summer semester down here.

I can't say much bad about ERAU... we all know about the cost issue, there is no denying that, but that could be said for alot of colleges. Sure, I'll be paying back my student loans after 30 years, but it's manageable, and I knew that would be the case going in. I know it's tough as a student...I remember when I failed my comm checkride, and my grades were slumping, I was about out of money in the flight account, and I wondered if I should just stop. Push on through...it will get better.

After being here both as a student and a flight instructor over the past 7 years, I've met alot of good contacts, went on an internship where I had alot of fun, earned all my ratings here (thank you student loans), and met alot of friends, and my wife!! I guess I'm extremely lucky on that last one Now that I'm working here, I'm earning alot of my hard-earned money back as well; they compensate me for my MBA tuition, with benefits, etc., and I have a great time instructing here. Plus, having some lunch and a cold one at Inlet Harbor while it's 70 degrees in February isn't bad either To the original poster...look me up and we'll go flying sometime.

And a lot of that is true, but most of it can be said because you're also an instructor here, you're making your license work for you. The sad part is just that I think the mentality here on campus is that we're paying all this money to go to school, and there's really no gratification afterwards. Especially if you have a year where you have some really bum professors, and maybe a really crap flight instructor. There's no doubt that school morale is at an ultimate low, and instead of trying to fix the problem, the school covers it up in a blatent attempt to raise admission numbers.

The fact of the matter is that the students are pissed off, and they're telling people about their experience, and it's hurting admission numbers. There's nothing the school can do about it, unless they decide to embark on a HUGE Pro-Student campaign, and once again, make this place look like a damn EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION, not a business park.

As a staff member I can tell you that you're exactly right. Dr Johnson seems to have that mentality, and in my own little corner of the university I try to do that in every aspect of my job. But its SO frustrating because this school has so much potential yet they continue to treat students like ********************.

One of my co-workers is 25, I'm 23, and we both obviously look young. As such we are immediately treated like ******************** at different departments we go to. Once it is clear that we are full time employees, there is a 180 degree turnaround in the attitude of whoever we are dealing with. This happened multiple times at the flight line before everyone got to know me.

That's amazing. The funny part is that you'd think the students would be the ones being treated like gold by the majority of people there....Considering that going to Riddle is no easy task, in terms of financials....To me there sees to be just such a disconnect with SOOOOOOOOOO many departments here on campus, and their relative relationship with the students. I mean yes, there are some departments that are really amazing with the students, and I know some of these employees at Riddle, and they have really been the ones that have been the difference between me enjoying my tenure here, and me going on a psychotic rampage down the legacy walkway.

I credit Dr. Johnson with a lot as of late...because he has a HUGE ugly beasts on his hands....and it can't just be fixed overnight. I just hope that whenever they find a replacement for Johnson, they know what they're doing. Former CEO's of conglamorates don't make good school Presidents. They're not about the academics, they're about making money/ or spending it...depending on what sector they're from.

It's simple. I think N. FL........well, all of FL kinda sucks. But, I'm headin that way b/c whether I like it or not...I'm in the S.E.

I mean sh!t. I better get used to flying 'round there.

I enjoyed my CFI training around St. Pete.
The on ground accomodations had much to be desired but the sky/water was beautiful.

Murmors of agreement were heard throughout the room.
