Paying one semester isnt even getting your head wet...its worthless...one semester at riddle? what 20K at the max...talk to me when you have to pay 100K in an uncertain industry when mommy and daddy cant help even if they want to. Your parents should just pay for all...if they can afford over 100K for your education they can afford 20K more and you wont be learning anything anyway.
my mom dosent make crap but my dad makes 230k and up he just wants me to understand that i have some responsibilities i think now

My friend is in the current syllabus...he has 57.8 total flight time. To go along with that, he has 32 hours in sims. MOST of that, atleast 25, is for the PPL.

thats just retarded...25 for PPL...thats asking for an accident.

I do know there is currently a trial program with a few students that do a large number of sim flights over real flights for PPL. Its purpose is to compare the use of sims to those who do the "standard" syllabus...to see if there is any benefit from it. I know at least 1 student who is part of this. Your friend wouldn't happen to be in that program, would he? Hell, he may even be a part of it and not know it.
To my knowledge, everyone who started when I did, Fall 04, was doing it this way. Maybe that whole class is the program? He says for every real flight, its 2 sims and a ground.

He still had around 50 hours of actual flight training, so no problem there. But its still unnecessary to practice landings in a Cessna Frasca.

So, what then, are you an expert in these matters? What are your qualifications to make this statement?

Well not to be rude but i hope you learn how to compose a sentence and spell before you have to be strong and get through life's troubles.

You aren't much better. I've called you on it in previous threads.

You are both UNDers, whya re you fighting? But I think everyone knows flying a Cessna 172 simulator for your PPL is just unnecessary..

Well of course your mom doesnt make money! If you dad is making 230K there is no need! Jesus, your household income is 7 times my families household income! Of course your going to riddle...your a rich kid whose daddy wants the best for his little angel. Well if you had sense you would look at more than what is commonly percieved to be the best and make your own decisions. Tell me...with daddy being a hot shot airline captain...did he prod you into riddle? If he did...STOP and rethink your career. You cant do what daddy tells you all your life. College is about choices and decisions...ones you will have to make! Daddy wont always be there. Dont go to riddle just because daddy did or because he has the money to send you there...you will not only intensify the stigma against riddle but you wont get anything out of college besides a new bought car from daddy that got wrecked when you had to much to drink and killed someone!

*granted im taking creative liberties here...but its not that extreme when you look at the trends.

hay that was kinda rude . i understand what your saying about not going there because my dad did. he asks me all the time if i want to go there and makes me reaserch other schools. i chose this out of my own free will and it has beena dream of mine to get into this college since i was thirteen. i havent stoped thinking about it since then and i dont intend on doing that now but i am truly thankfull for your imput.

Not really, but please don't carry the "My Daddy is a UAL Captain and makes over 200K per year, and thats what I'm gonna do too" attitude into ERAU. Consider it tough love. There is some good advice in this thread, amidst the bullcrap.

He seemed reasonable until that came out...then it was all bets are off...that sort of attitude just pisses off. Im sure its worse at ERAU...but here at UND there are always those few people who go home every weekend because there daddy is a captain and they get free tickets..and then they have that attitude that they are God's gift to aviation just because there parents raised them to love it (or brainwashed).

The odds of anyone getting into this industry now and making over $200K at a major are slim to none -- our young student needs to know that. When you get there, you will never make the kind of money your dad makes as an airline pilot right now. That's the sad reality. The industry, and the pay, will never be what it was, and it's still on its way downhill.

If you're getting into this for the love of flying, have at it; it's the only thing that keeps most of us in it through all the BS in this business. If you're getting into this for the money, re-think it. Odds are you won't see six figures for over a decade, and having ERAU on your degree will not change that.

I may help a little...but probably not at all.

Honestly, why are you guys (im not going to name any names GK rangers and JC) giving him so much crap? He hasn't really said or done anything out of place.

Lay off.

Its one thing when someone says something stupid and an experienced airline/corporate pilot puts them in their place. Its another thing when a couple of airheads like you two start giving him crap for no reason.

So its ok for an airline captain to give him crap but not us because we arent worthy of it? What...we cant have opinions now just because we are in college? Why dont you castrate yourself and kiss their feet while your at it alex...your putting these guys on pedistals, just because they are farther along in our chosen career field doesnt mean we have to bow down to them.

btw-putting something into bold isnt going to scare us...man, what...are you trying to show that your SUPER angry...or that you "really" mean it...come on man...lol...we get it...ppllleeeaaassseee sir...please dont bring out the big bad BOLD

As a Riddle rat myself, I think I'm more in tune with the culture here (at ERAU) than some airline pilot.

I was ignorant once too, but my eyes were opened.

Its called learning to respect those that are smarter, more experienced, and (the real key word here) more mature than you. You have a long way to go.

Take that above post for example. I have no idea what are trying to say. It seems to be some sort of primitive insult, but with all the gramatical errors and misspellings, I can't even comprehend it.
