The military asks if you have ever done drugs. If you answer yes you are ineligible to serve. If there is probable cause you are tested. But if you answer no, don't show signs, and keep it a total secret it is your problem alone.

I don't think that's exactly right. Pretty sure some of my shipmates told me they answered "yes" to that question and just had to get a waiver. That was back in '89 though.

However, once you're in there is definitely a "zero tolerance" policy. One positive drug test and you're out.
