Admit it, Chicaga, you're pretty new over there.FlyChicaga said:New? Nah... I'm just the eternal optimist. Plenty of booze and girls will do that to ya!
What is it, three months?

Pilot-management relations always go south during negotiations. You think it's bad now, just wait til next year this exact time when you guys will have received your last airplane (at least what is known for now.) Mesaba went nearly 3 years in negotiations, and the last 6 months to year up to our strike deadline was probably the roughest anyone could experience.blade230 said:My opinion only, I think Mesaba has a better chance at getting future growth. Management-Pilot relations are not exactly perfect at 9E right now (Understatement).
The pilots at Pinnacle are a pretty good group of people. I have a few friends at Mesaba, and they are good people as well.
Good luck.
Has mesaba ever have a growth spurt or are have they always had the leftovers from 9E?may be a little biased but I think mesaba's turn for a growth spurt is very near
I believe we got jets before 9E did...and what was it 9E was doing when the AVRO's were coming over?CurlyD777 said:Has mesaba ever have a growth spurt or are have they always had the leftovers from 9E?
It's a case of do as I say, not as I do. Just ask T-handle how well the Mesaba pilots stood their ground.T-handle said:it gets f-ugly and u just gotta stand your ground.
You must be one of those guys with the strength of an oak. One of those who screems that he is better because he voted no on the Mesaba TA and he knows he could have done it better than what 500 or 600 hundred other pilots thought. I'm curious, since you question how strong we stood for three years, who has done it better since 9-11. Please say CoEX, I would love to hear about thier whopping $1 an hour more for 50 seat Captain's. They did the best that a majority of them thought they could do, and so did we. I am tired of all the no voters that basically belittle the inteligence of so many other professional pilots. The majority felt that was the best they could do at that time. Thats why the contracts passed. But, you must just be the best of the best.mesaba2425 said:It's a case of do as I say, not as I do. Just ask T-handle how well the Mesaba pilots stood their ground.
Try $7 an hour more + profit sharing + leg by leg pay + 9% 401k match for 6+ years of service + maintain vacation system where all trips drop that touch vacation week, etc. etc. It wasn't a perfect TA, but a bigger improvement than you suggest. Just pointing out the inaccuracies, not saying anything about other carrier's contracts.Monster Buck said:Please say CoEX, I would love to hear about thier whopping $1 an hour more for 50 seat Captain's.
I looked at your contract for an avg. CA at about 5 year level and it was about $.80 in the second year and ours exceeded yours in the last year by a guarter. I got the info from one of your CA's TA's. I didn't see a $7 difference. If you have the specifics I would like to check. Also we have leg by leg, 4hour min day, trip guar., and at year 6 you do beat us at 401% we only have 4 although it goes up to 6.25,10, and 12.5 every five years respectfully. I am sure you probably have the same. Its nice if you actually stay. I was wondering though if you guys now have as many CA's 135/145 as planes. My friend is a 145 CA and he was telling me how not every CA gets 145 pay unless you hold 145, the kicker being there are more 145's than ca's being paid 145? Giving rise for the need for leg by leg pay since you may get paid 135 if the next leg was a 135?XJTAv8r said:Try $7 an hour more + profit sharing + leg by leg pay + 9% 401k match for 6+ years of service + maintain vacation system where all trips drop that touch vacation week, etc. etc. It wasn't a perfect TA, but a bigger improvement than you suggest. Are you talking about what a 5th year E145 captain was paid on 11/30/04 (Contract 97) verses on 12/1/04 (Contract 04)? If so, on 11/30 the rate was $58.08 and the next day it jumped to $64.47, which in that example is a $6.39 raise under the new contract. My $7 example was from a different seniority year.Monster Buck said:I looked at your contract for an avg. I was just looking at what a 5 year 50 seat CA would be paid today. Ours would be 63.00 and in '08 a 5 year 50 seat CA would be 70.89. I just picked a place to make a comparison.XJTAv8r said:Are you talking about what a 5th year E145 captain was paid on 11/30/04 (Contract 97) verses on 12/1/04 (Contract 04)? Or were you comparing your airline's pay rates to our new contract?
Our new contract now fixes the number of E135 CA slots at 5 per aircraft. We have 30 135s and in theory one is in C check at any particular time, so right now it's 29 x 5 = 145 E135 CA slots. If XJT sells any of the 135s, the number of slots drops. The pay difference is 88.5% of the 145 rate, or roughly $7-$8 depending on seniority. The lower pay sucks and pretty much hoses the junior reserve pilots who don't get to fly much and earn less per diem. I guess the union couldn't do much to change this because of a history of airlines paying pilots based on seat numbers. The only offset to this is that E135 captains get paid the higher rate when flying an E145 based on actual flight time. So if you end up flying a full month in a 145, your pay will be pretty much the same as an E145 capt. Unfortunately most reserves aren't this lucky.Monster Buck said:I was wondering though if you guys now have as many CA's 135/145 as planes. Oh ok. I thought you meant something else when I read your initial post. Our numbers in your example for 5th yr CA would be $64.47 today and $69.43 for 5th yr in 2008. I guess you have 50 seat rates already negotiated in case you get ERJs or CRJs down the road?Monster Buck said:I was just looking at what a 5 year 50 seat CA would be paid today. Nothing wrong with being senior with great schedules, days off, etc. I enjoyed it as an FO for a little while.Monster Buck said:I just stay the best darn payed saab CA in the US.
