Was this mainline or regional flight?

(CNN) -- Infomercial pitchman Billy Mays died at his Tampa, Florida, home Sunday morning, authorities told CNN.
The 50-year-old known for his shouting OxiClean ads was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m. The Hillborough County medical examiner will perform an autopsy, Tampa police Lt. Brian Dugan said.

Mays was on the US Airways flight from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Tampa on Saturday that had a hard landing at Tampa International Airport when the plane's front tire blew out. There were no reported injuries on Flight 1241, US Airways told CNN.

According to a local Tampa TV station, Mays said: "All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

The bearded Mays was a spokesman for Orange Glo and detergent OxiClean and appeared in commercials for other products.

He is featured on the reality TV show ''Pitchmen'' on the Discovery Channel, which follows pitch people in their jobs.

"It is with incredible sadness that we have to report that Billy Mays died in his sleep last night," said a statement from the Discovery Channel. "Everyone that knows him was aware of his larger-than-life personality, generosity and warmth. Billy was a pioneer in his field and helped many people fulfill their dreams. He will be greatly missed as a loyal and compassionate friend. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family at this time of incredible loss."

RIP Billy, but thank God that your commercials are finished.

I'm not seeing a connection, I didn't realize his autopsy had been completed already?

The owner of the bag that killed him will be sued for 3 million dollars. The FA that failed to secure it will be sued for 7 million dollars. The FO that made the hard landing will be sued for 60 million dollars. US Airways will be sued for 12.5 Billion dollars.

All in easy payments of 19.95!!! But wait, there's more!

If that "Sham Wow" guy dies, it will be by the hand of some poor viewer who has seen his commercials just one too many times.... What a complete jack-tard!

Here is a clip of someone just as irritating talking about "Captain Sham Wow" beating a hooker!

If the Sham Wow guy gets it, I just hope somebody is quick enough to say, "Did you catch that, camera guy??"

Ha Ha Ha I don't care who ya are. That's funny right there..R.I.P. Billy.
I just entered the crew room in ORD when someone was talking about it. Didn't think anything about it until they said they were possible blaming it on a hard landing. If Sully were flying this would have never happened. I hope those two pilots don't commute to work. The FAA may just take an even closer look at pilot fatigue. rest issues etc.. (sarcasm)

Micheal Jackson, Farah Fawsett (sorry about the spelling if its wrong) Ed Mcman (HEY, YOOOOOOOOOO!) and now Billy Mayes. What is going on?

The realization that the people put on tv are still human (well ok maybe part alien in Jackson's case)

All those people are worthless but America decides to celebrate the life of the child raper. Could have picked the sex symbol, the late night tail rider, or even 3am guy, but no good old America is said a child raper died.

Dude was weird as hell but he was no child raper.

Probably had a concussion and didn't know it, or at least didn't know how severe it was. You know what they say about falling asleep with a concussion.

Sounds like the same exact thing that happend to Natasha Richardson a few months back. Hit her head on the ski slope and thought nothing of it, then went into a coma and died.

Heard on the radio that Billy was speaking to his friends that night and they said he wasn't making any sense. He also complained to his wife about not feeling well before going to sleep.

What intrigues me is watching their show Pitchmen, Sully and Billy appeared to have procured an Avanti fractional/charter because apparently Billy was so famous he could make it through an airport in a timely manner.

WTF would anyone want to fly commercial if you had access to a Piaggio?

Looks like some kind of cardiac issue. Had signs of heart disease and blockage.

You're right, because everyone who's innocent of that kind of accusation will just happily fork over $50 million to make it go away and then move to South America for 5 years. Are you retarded, or one of those people that thinks OJ is also innocent because...well you know why.

I think we should blame it on the regional pilots. They never get checkrides, aircraft training, or background checks, ever. Those regional airline companies are not even regulated by the FAA. My understanding is that they fly the pilots in every day from Cambodia. It's a wonder that the MAINLINE AIRLINES sign contracts for 15 years with them, and put their names all over their aircraft, and are hopelessly head over heels in love them. It must be a "bad boy thing".
