Highest percentages of major airline pilots on furlough:

1. US Airways 33%
2. UAL 22%
3. American 20%
4. NWA 16%
5. CAL 15%
6. DAL 13%
 
One of the big problems are some of the jobs are just plain gone.When you park DC10's and B727's and replace them with 320's 330's and 757's that's lots of F/E jobs.
 
My guess is Alaska this fall.

4 years ago, nobody even considered Alaska to be a major and people were even leaving Alaska for the majors. Now everybody wants to work there. Just an observation.
 
Retirements at CAL this year are supposed to be about 140... next year it goes up to about 170, then retirements peak in 2007 at about 340 per year, and taper back off. In the next five years, Continental will have to replace about a third of our pilots.
