Stay Professional

Guys, guys:

Please re-read MEC communications re: Professional Conduct. If you think these message boards are really anonymous you are wrong. Thanks to VIPS, management knows every key stroke you make when logged in. For those of you who weren't here in '95 this company can get very vindictive against pilots for "infringing" on other pilots rights (privacy). We don't need to spend negotiating capital to get you out of 'jail'.

Stay the course. Those who choose to look towards their own short-term interests are few in number. I got called for a DRF to IND on Monday AM. They NEVER call me. Must be getting desperate.

Hotel STBY pairings also in ANC in open time.

Hunter has had his sked blocked since he was on TV the first time. He still does a lot out in LA from what I understand, so probably blocking so we do not see how little he works. Maybe he is trying to avoid the stalkers finding out what hotel he is in since he is a "famous" TV star. Sandman are you a stalker?

Memphis gets it, stop complaining and don't worry about others, all u can do is your job and nothing else. It doesn't pay to point fingers, many of us in Collierville refuse draft on a daily basis, just say no! Good luck..

Subic and ANC are the only ones that seem to get it. I think that might be because they are easier to make sure everyone understands the real deal.

I think the LAX pilots get it too.

Scheduling called me again for another LAX based draft trip back out to HNL but I respectfully declined, but I also got the flight number as well. Guess who is flying the trip...a MEM based FO. Hard to say if it is DFT or not, it looks like he just finished ITU training and might have been given the trip on a custom built line.

Regardless, we need to start looking in the mirror ask whey enough is enough.

No, it doesn't pay but most pilots will be less inclined to do a DFT trip if they know they are going to catch a rash of $hit for it from their coworkers.

With UPS possibly getting thier deal done it could potentially help us with peak season around the corner. If you were the customer that HAD to get those Xmas presents to family who do you want flying them...pilots with or without a contract?

Again, lets put the pressure on NOW, not later. Why not do everything possible WITHIN the contract that is legal?

He, he, pretty funny - no I'm not a stalker, I happened to see one of Hunter's shows on Discovery (or TLC, MTV, CMTV or whatever) and wondered if he was still flying the line.

Just becuase he's a good dude doesn't make him exempt from being called out for flying extra..........glad to hear he hasn't quit.

Capt Mark got black balled by FlightInfo...no one can really figure out why:rolleyes:

It looks like he is back though...or not...maybe Brian a300 knows:laugh:

Flew with capt tonight that blocks his calendar. I didn't ask, but this trip was not part of his normal line and was open to all seat positions a few days ago (I looked). I'm pretty sure he picked it up or was drafted. He also made a comment about retro pay...which got me thinkin. I'm starting to believe some of these guys are loading up on time NOW in the hopes of a big retro payday in the future. Ass backward if you ask me, ad I hope I'm not right.

Sandman,

I'm with you. He could be flying all draft for all I know haven't seen him in a long time since I fly out of ANC. He may not work for us anymore for all I know, would have to check a bidpack or the tabloids.

You can see I don't know much.

On another note, I am flying with a union guy later this month who has his sked blocked. What's up with that?

Only 3 open time trips left for MEM 72 F/Os for the rest of the month. Lots of XTRA and other trips in there a week ago. Two of those trips are 31 Jul, and they'll be gone by the end of the week. Yup, us MEM pilots "get it."

Guys.....Sandman IS a stalker. That picture isn't of his wife....it's HIM!

He heard that hunter liked brunettes and, well..... there you go!

BTW, everything posted on Flightinfo is fact. Trust me on this.

Also, trips in MEM for almost every seat still get sucked up like crazy. There were a lot of trips on the Boeing open over the 4th, but the rest of the month is nothing but airport standby. "Disputed pairing".....what is that, exactly? They seem to disappear from open time pretty quickly....

Called for draft on those 5th flights at 1230 am....didn't even answer the phone. Message confirmed my suspicions... First call I've had like that in over a year (and those calls were always for SIBA trips...)

Don't know Capt Mark, relatively new to flight info! If you guys have the guts to complain, ask the guys you are flying with to see their trip pairing(who you suspect of flying draft), that will resolve all these issues of doubt and our turning on each other. It is what the company wants and what we did in '98.

I got a call on the 3rd. They switched my RB on the 5th to RA. They met the 18 hr deadline, but it seriously irritated me. Instead of j/s online on the morning of the 5th (thereby enjoying my July 4 BBQ), I had to off line on the evening of the 4th.

I politely informed the scheduler that I bid RB for a reason (as a non-junior guy), and that reason was to have the July 4 weekend off. I told her that it would be incredibly difficult to travel on the holiday on such short notice, but that I would do what I could. Her reply to me? A very curt "well, we have an operation to run here." I almost went postal. However, since all conversations are recorded, I bit my lip and said "goodbye."

I know it was legal, but I manage my schedule properly and so should they. But, I guess they don't really have to here in Memphis. We have guys that will fly whenever scheduling gets in a bind, no matter what. Nice.

Absolutely no way to win an argument with them. They have slots to fill and a job to do, and your interests are of NO concern to them. They aren't ogres...they are just folks who have a job to do. I've been asked to be released 15 minutes early from standby periods to catch a jumpseat and been denied...not personal...its just business.

I got my last RB period converted to RA so I could do a Panama trip before we lost SIBA. Like you, I like the PM stuff...but contractually they CAN change it. New contract proposed by ALPA would make them pay an extra hour or two when that happened...disruption pay if you will for reserve line modification. My experience last fall and your experience this week show why that might be important.

Get switched to RA+ up in ANC all the time. Now you cover both launch periods in ANC.

Also was involuntarily converted from reserve to a line last month, what a raw deal that is. Absolutely no control of anything just an e-mail one day prior to VTO lines being published.

IMHO, this is why the "scheduling" section of the contract is probably more important than the compensation page. Outside looking in, it appears the UPS contract is gutting some of the international rules for more pay, although the domestic side seems to be improving.

Details matter. Q of life matters. The money will come and go, but we are stuck with work rules for a long, long time....

This is why we have a sick bank and a doctor in the family!!
