Does anyone have intel as to when pilots waiting in the pool will start class at FedEx? I have heard maybe April. Any ideas on how big the classes might be?

When does the current big bid close? How long will it take for the dust to settle from that? Any thoughts?

Don't know about new hires.

Big bid, if there's going to be one, hasn't been announced or opened yet...we'll see. The regular monthly bid just closed yesterday for FO's and SO's and the rest of the line construction won't be finished until next Wednesday.

It's anybodys guess at this point.

Anything anyone says will be pure speculation. The company has not said anyhting but 'things are on hold for a couple of months'.

The new training bid has not been released yet but probably will be later this week or first of next week. Once it does come out it will take about month to close and then another couple of weeks for training dates to come out.

Estimate next newhire classes in mid-late April at the earliest, May is probably a more accurate guess. The poolies will be 'hand picked' for classes so it might not matter when you interviewed or when you got the call saying 'Congrats, you're in the pool' phone call.

So in summary...Stand by, hold short, you are in the Congo line!

Thanks PurpleTail,

That is good info. I was just curious what to expect. I will just have to be patient.

I'll take info from anyone. I am just curious when classes will start and where?

I hear that if you are a slow talking redneck from east AR you can expect a class sometime in Dec.

I heard that too. I just wanted to see what my future looked like!

I heard Ex-Express Jet guys get priority in class dates too...

How do you like the Greens? Me and some buds are thinking about crashing there. How many guys can comfortably bunk there? Gym? Pool? Rates? Thanks!

So you have "loose" money? It would be better if you had loose women.
When you get ready to lose some cash I'm sure CaptainMark will take it off your hands.

and don't you forget it...redneck..don't you have a date with your sister...?see you on the 1st tee...

I think your H2 and Harley have redneck written all over them. Real rednecks drive Chevys, oh yea I forgot the H2 is a Chevy. Next thing you'll tell me is you are a Dallas Cowboys fan.

I'll see you and FedEx on the first tee and we'll see your money on the 18th. Oh, and she's not my sister, she's my ex-wife. (And for the record she does have all her teeth!)

Just interviewed a few days ago. We were told by the usual suspects that the pool wouldn't be any bigger than about 60-70 guys. Classes in Apr and early May. 50-70 a month for the remainder of the year. That will empty the pool in a month. As far as "Hand picked by experience" it was touched on by the people running the show but it didn't appear that you would wade in the pool while class after class skipped you over. You just might not go to the first available class. And who knows what experience is considered good for what seat at FedEx. Who knows. We'll see.

islandpirate,

Thanks for the update. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. Good luck to you.

I was wondering when the thread would get back on topic! :)

How many people are interviewing between now and April? I heard they want to interview about 100 pilots per month. Hasn't FedEx interviewed about 150 pilots total since Jan? How many have they hired? I have heard they hire about 70% of the folks that interview. If that is true, then there should already be over 100 pilots in the pool. Any thoughts?

Where did you get the 70% hired stat? That sounds low compared to the number I heard?

I heard it from some FedEx pilots last fall. I was wondering if those numbers were accurate.

Great reply...?

LOL....sorry trying to be funny..I'm no commedian.

What I was trying to say was that the only real statisitic that matters is the one about whether you have prepared enough to pass the interview.

I would hate to see someone not prepare enough based on a high pass rate.

Ill keep my day job. (or I guess night job...whatever)

I didn't understand the post. It sounded to me like he meant that all of the people that start at FedEx have passed the interview. I thought that was a given. You have to pass the interview to start at FedEx.

Edited..........Got it. I agree Echopapa.
