Why do some people get so excited about JetBlue? They act as if it is something special or unique?

Their stock is down by more than 50% in the past 6 months. Profits are down. They are going to start flying RJ's next year.

Whats the big fuss all about?

Not trying to flame blait, but really, whats the big deal?

Dude their stock was as high as 70 a share..then they split and its been down a little since then. Being in NYC they get a lot of good media, they are the new kid on the block and everybody likes an underdog.

Not to mention (from what I have heard) they have a good product and employees that believe in what they are doing. Happy employees make for happy customers. What a concept.

They seem to have gotten the attention of Delta and AA. Which I think is somewhat bad considering they don't have the war machine that AA and DAL have.

Who knows about those new jets??

a $70 dollar stock that splits 3/2 goes to around $50 a share give or take. It has been trading in the $23-$26 dollar range lately. (28 on Friday, but not the norm) That is nearly 50% loss after the split.

I was just curious what the "big" fuss was over. Air Tran and ATA are "good" places to work and you don't hear the "big" fuss over them. What gives?

I just feel like the JB guys are so busy blowing their own horns, they forgot to pay attention to the fact that they are not exactly burning up the skys with their performance.

When you start seeing a backward slide, like everyone has seen at JBin the past 6 months, and then you tack on loads of new debt, it just doesn't look good for the future.

JB will be around for a long time and will probably be successful, but it is hard to believe that it will be a great company like SWA in 30 years.

Just thinking out loud.

You obviously chose the red pill.

Hopeful...

There is no "big" deal and no fuss...jb is just a solid group of folks with inspiration and vision...it's quite simple when you really think about it.

V2:)

Seeing that not too many carriers have posted a profit and JB posted a double digit million dollar profit might be worth getting excited over in the current status of the industry. Guys get just as excited about SWA and they should. It is exciting to work for companies that are doing well and are fun to work at. You can sit here and talk about all the lease stuff at JB and the mx and all that, but the bottom line is that if you got into jet blue 2 or 3 years ago and were smart about your money/stock buying, then you are sitting pretty good. You can talk about down the road who will be here and who won't. Maybe JB will and maybe they won't, but when your riding the wave, you better ride it long and hard because you never know when this wave will die, when the next one will be and if you'll be lucky enough to work for a carrier that is on it. So get excited!

Probably the fact that they're a fun place to work and they've made a good profit during the down cycle.

ATA is eaking by and AirTran is slowly growing. JB is growing AND making money.TC

There is an inordinate number of JBLU pilots on this site because all 800+ of us have laptops! Check out a sample of market capitals as of Friday's close:

In Billions:

DAL .843
NWAC .907
AAI 1.037
AMR 2.055
JBLU 2.913
SWA 11.836

Interesting, huh?
