Are you seriously asking this question (no offense)? Let's start with job security. Oh, and let's not forget small, insignificant facts like the fact that one airline is small, family-run and owned, and non-unionized, while the other is much larger, has ALPA, and a history of low morale and shady management practices.

Colgan is no longer a family owned buisness and shorlty it will not be family operated. Low moral and shady management are a hallmark of Pinnacle Airlines, Corp. Its only a matter of time before you will feel the impact of our executive goon squad.

An equitable merger increases job security and boosts long term career expectations/earnings for all.

Which seperates them one from the other and how?

Small corrupt family owned business or larger, corrupt business with workers (un)represented by a union that has become in its own right a big business...

The only difference is who pays for the lawyers when someone is wrongfully terminated (or perhaps not) and if they get back pay...

You've got to get out of this mindset that you are still part of this "small, family-run and owned" company. That company no longer exists. You are now a subsidiary of Pinnacle Corp, a company with over a $1 billion in annual revenue. The Colgans are merely short-term place holders until Phil can install his own goons to run the Colgan operation. The Colgans will walk away with very large severance checks and lots of stock, and you will be left to deal with the likes of Buddy Casey (former Lorenzo goon, current Trenary goon).

As for the benefits of an integration, you're absolutely right that job protections are a must for both groups. That's why it would be beneficial for you to have ALPA representation. In a merger between two ALPA groups, both pilot groups have representatives that negotiate the new seniority list. There are also many different ways that "fences" can be created to keep pilots from being displaced and to keep upgrade times at current levels. I don't know why the idea is out there that an integration would be bad for the Colgan pilots. In fact, the Colgan pilot group has a lot more to gain from it than we would.

it is true....and very real...

Companies including regional airlines are only interested in one thing. The uninterupted flow of cash. They are not interested in respect, trust, fairness, justice, compassion, empathy or a work/life balance.
