I've lived in nine different states so far. Every one had their good points and bad points. The thing that frosted me about living in NJ and NY were the outrageous taxes plus the high cost of living in NJ. With that said, I've enjoyed every state I've lived in. Would think CA would be tough with the abundance of government and subsequent taxes. Also Arkansas the great state that gave us Clinton. I heard though Arkansas was thinking about changing their state motto to, "America, we apologize".

It has to be Oklahoma....

Sh*t those overnights in LAW suck big time.Shi**y place.
Its a dump. Hotel sucks, dirty place, it was very depressing.
Bunch of horny Military men.. Im glad im not going there anymore!!!

I Hate Atlanta--Code Red Smog Alert

I hate Atlanta.....too **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** hot for too long.....terrible smog, hor
rific traffic,do i need to continue???? and yes I am from here so i have all the rights to complain....

Just moved back from South Florida.......great place to live...lots to do

Favorite places....Jackson, Wyoming
....island of Kauai, Hawaii
....Paris, France
it doesn't get any better than that!!!!!

I'm surprised Kansas hasn't come up in here at all. This place is boring as you can get, the wind never, ever, ever quits blowing. The mind numbing flatness drives you crazy (out west). The summer is freaking blazing hot, the winter is absolutely bone chilling cold. If I wasn't stuck here I'd move my butt down to Texas. Can't leave because of my business. I knew I should've bolted after high school....

. As For DONT MESS WITH TEXAS. IT is a litter program, nothing else.

P.S. You know why texas panhandle so windy? Oklahoma sucks:)

A few years back, they had this commercial for that. It was filmed from the top of a hill, as this car comes over the top which proceeds to litter.

Then a few seconds later, here comes this B-17 over the hill along the road headed for the car...

"Bomb bay doors open..."

Oklahoma has two redeeming qualities:
Cheap housing and college football.
Learning to fly and going to college in OK is the one thing that
has kept me out of debt!
That said I would never want to go back.

I'll give texas credit for the quality of their women, at least to look
at - having dated a few I'd say that's all they're good for.
But you can't beat The Lodge in north Dallas!

Go Sooners, beat the whorns - again!

OHIO SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

The people are nice enough but this state is a sh*thole.

It's West-side 'till I die!!

Peace!!!!

I'm laughing so hard from JediNein's descripton of "Appalachia" that I almost forgot what I wanted to say...

A tie between TX and FL.

FL: Land of the mullet, home of Mickey. Need I say more?
Hot, humid, boring. Can't even go out to dinner without waiting in line for an hour with a bunch of Jimmy Buffett wannabe tourists.
5 million mullet haired rednecks can't all be right.

TX: In no state have I ever seen such a widespread sense of narcissism. TX is indeed very big in TX. You would think it was the center of the universe the way people act. Maybe the heat affects their brains? When it's not below 90 degrees day or night for four consecutive months, one has to wonder.
Ever notice that the beer bottles all have some sort of Texas reference on them? I'll bet the locals wouldn't drink it if it didn't.

Favorites?
Anything in the Midwest... we have a little of everything. Aside from that, New England.

Two states I hate.

1. Florida: Too hot, too humid, too flat. Too many people that don't speak English and insist that we speak Spanish. Politics that are so oppressive. (The one I like best is the women that peaks over the fence and looks into someone's bedroom and sees the couple fornicating and busts them on indecent exposure) One of two states that has a "take a number" dispenser on death row. I can go on and on.

2. Texas: Too hot, too humid, and mostly too flat. Sinous and allergy attacks that are absolutely debilitating. Again oppressive politics and the other state with the "take a number" dispenser. Jasper. Just too much good ole' boy attitude.

I sometimes enjoy Texas and their state pride, that gets old in about two days.

Mind you I am not a flaming knee jerk reactionary liberal but these two states really take things to extremes.

I am from Northern California. It's far from perfect and in itself some of it's politics are absolutely ridiculous. Idiot peace protesters that don't have a clue, some real goof ball ideas. But we also have some things that were born here that started changes throughout the country, like the Free Speech Movement of the early sixties, the Center for Independent Living (disabled peoples rights). Taxes may be high but compared to some eastern states its pretty low. (Prop 13 property tax laws)

But all in all we are a good ten years ahead of the rest of the country.

Oh yeah the weather is for the most part great!

I like pretty much all east coast, west coast, and mountain states. Anything between the rocky mountains and Pennsylvania you can pretty much have.

Texas and Oklahoma suck. I find the interstate rivalry quite amusing, though, because I am hard pressed to find any difference between the two! Classic case of over-compensation, I guess.

LAXSaabdude.

Not that I've been everywhere in Oklahoma, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a place like Austin there.

speaking of drivers

lots of comments here about bad driving everywhere people go. well i'll just bring up a statistic i found a while back...

90 percent of all drivers believe their driving ability to be ABOVE average.

so why is the remaining 10 percent living in my neighborhood??

I don't hate Penn but I hate driving through it on the way out west. That **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** state never ends, its trees and highway till your eyes pop out.

I don't dislike NJ except for the traffic. Many only see the crappy area around the airports and NYC related congestion. Of course, nobody goes to NJ, its too crowded (I credit that to the Yogi Berra line.)

Texass

I have lived here for three years now. What a s_h_i_thole. Home of one million chain restaurants. No wonder everyone here is a fatass. The only place I have ever been where mall shopping is a sport/recreation. Maybe because it is nothing less than a billion degrees outside for four months of the year. What the hell is everyone so proud of? The only thing that is worthwhile is the hill country (AUS) and it is still hot as hell. Ok, I'm done for now...

Best state: ALASKA (Hey Texans, you know Alaska....you know, the BIG state?) The last thing we have that still resembles the wild, wild west. No state taxes and they pay you every year with oil revenues! God bless Jay Hammond!

Broken down as indicated for the largest city in each state. Last number on the right is percent of income towards major taxes expense. There were different tables for higher and lower incomes. I put "State tax comparison" in my search engine.

i honestly can't believe nobody's said it yet, but, my vote has to be LOUISIANA.
oh my god.... sure, new orleans is fun for an hour or two, but, really, there's only so much drinking and boob-flashing one can take before it starts getting old. but as far as the rest of the state... the term 'walking dead' comes to mind when i think of its inhabitants. common sense doesn't exist.. a 'nice house' is one that has not fallen over yet. when a cajun who lives in the swamps and wrestles alligators and crocodiles for fun warns you to stay away from ' dem city women.. dain't right in der head,' ya gotta wonder... not to mention the most absolutely corrupt police/law enforcement system in the country. don't drive through any part of louisiana if you've got a hot car. good thing is, what they consider hot is like, camaros, corvettes, and any pickup truck that doesn't have rust on it yet... they'll pull you over, drop a dime bag in your seat as they 'search' the car, then you're arrested for possession. and how convenient, they've got this seizure law, which allows for the seizure on the spot of any vehicle who's owner is found to be violating the 'drug laws.' of course, that seized car never makes it through the reports or to the impound.. just to Officer Friendly's driveway.
yeah.. great state!
