hey ATR Capt. that's just a french pile of junk! Fok/beer has balls he likes to fly the caravan :P
What ever you say there, Sparky.

How many ATR's does Empire have flying for peak?

I heard that you guys get recurrent training for a plane that you have not flown. Any truth to that rumor?

Sparky? I'm not an electrician, well sorta. That ATR is an ugly airplane, looks like they ran short of material when they got to building the empenage to me. Of course, it almost looks decent with that new FX paint :) Careful what you say to me Mr. Atrcapt, I know you, I got your number. Might have to ask Fok/beer or better yet, rockin rodney to deal with ya!!! BTW, did EA send you guys back out for training when it looked like they might actually get ONE flying? Say hi to the loser mechanics if you're in PDX this peak. I'm really surprised that maint. base didn't fold up after I and the 208Tech left town.

It took me a minute untill I remembered that your avatar was the screen saver upstairs, now it all makes sense. How are things going over there?

Ah-Ha! Two plus two equals four! How's life in paradise? Don't eat too many coconuts, they're a natural laxative!

We should all read the book: UNHEEDED WARNINGS (forgot author, Amazon.com) before we start flying this plane. Better to be informed correctly than relive the mistakes of the past. Everything I've heard about the ATR is it's a great airplane on a nice day but a mobile home in the mist of a tornado in the ice. Some of our FSI ATR instructors are in the book. All I know is a couple of nights ago we had a instant build up of heavy ice and the F handled it like a rock. Long live the F and down with the French; they should stick with making sh!tty wine. "Prepare for Flameout!"

I'm with Bling air on this one, bitchin' avatar by the way. The F is a rock solid airplane. And once you get used to it a nice looking machine. The ATR, its ok at best. To me it looks like the french took their time in making the airplane tube, then at the last second said, OH S**T we forgot to put gear on it. Thats OK well just make a pod and stick it on the bottom of it. Tah Dah we have an ATR42. As for the ice, no ones looking forward to it. The auto pilot, thats a different story.

Long live the F, Short live my hearing.

the "F" is indeed a solid bird-hopefully we don't have any iceing problems with the ATR

ice; smice we just need to ask ourselves what would ted do.

I wish we were flying Dash-8's. Oh well, I'm gonna quit flying and be a rock star anyway.

ATRCAPT:you are a rock star and I have the pictures to prove it ( thats why you can never run for office.) I'm a redneck woman........
Fokkers N Beer: Thanks, couldn't have had Dolly without you. Have fun @ Henry's. Say hey to all my girlfriends up there (they'll be the ones with a butt in front and back and no teeth.
Thunderworm: You and the D'man got the shafting of all mother loving shaftings for Thanksgiving. I'm drinking a PBR right now for you.

hello fokker/beer and atrcapt. I am fine over here in "paradise" only thing that could make it better is if I could get laid....DOH!!! The job is going well, new 208 arrived last week (14.5 hours from Van Nuys to Maui lots of ocean for an SE airplane if you ask me). Enjoying life again.
Hope you guys don't work too hard during peak. We don't have peak here as such, it's always peak :) fok/beer, is that BFR still available? I might need it if I don't get it here in the meantime, coming back to the mainland on the 23rd for a week. It's late and I'm outta beer, so later! Mike

Hey Slomo -
Yes, we'll take FAR 135 and 121 crew members on the ATR and the F-27 only. Give the head office a call at 208-292-3850. Tell them you want to jump from A to B and request a jumpseat pass be faxed to the captain. Then just show up (with a goodie for the crew! - just kidding...sort of). Hope to see ya out there.

Actually, I think Trouserworm has the right idea. I'm not worried as much about the ice as I am about gusty crosswinds. That thing has 3 feet less wheel base on each side than the F. That's gonna make Sitka in January interesting! Once the F has all three gear on the ground it pretty much takes an act of Congress to upset it, but rolling out in the ATR you can **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** near lift a main gear off the ground by just tweaking the control wheel! Fokkers&beer, I agree. The "gear pod" does seem like an afterthought. (I thought you were in charge of the gear, mon ami! It was not me, it was you, monsieur!)

To resopond to trouserworm, whenever I seem to get into a tight spot, I often say to my self WWTD. What would Ted do, and then do just the EXACT OPPOSITE!

Long live TED, and the F.
(Or the F will live longer without Ted.)

Hey CaravanFixer-

To answer your question, anytime your in PDX and our schedules mesh, lets take up the 182 and take care of your BFR.

fok/beer, cool, thanks. I'll see ya around christmas maybe. BTW I'm homeless now, house closed today. I'd be shi**in in tall cotton if I didn't have that darn 2nd mortgage :(

In capable hands, the F-27 is truly the superior aircraft. The ATR is simply a poor French aircraft.

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT DOG BOY! The F is a capable machine in capable hands.

And TSKY, I hate to tell you that Juanitas kicks huge ASS over La Pinata, absolutely no contest.

1:Dog Boy- you the man! 2:La Pinata has way better chips and salsa though the food is the typical white man mexican grub; it's doable. Just don't go on a Friday- its way too loud and crowded and watching everyone else down the devil Tequila while you still have a long night ahead is not too much fun. Juanitas c & s is o.k. but their authentic food is kick arse! The smothered burrito on the ala carte menu is the way to go- cheap and good. Also try the Tres Leche cake, I said **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**nn! And the also reliable yet somewhat risky burrito hut (los Pecditculas or whatever the hell it is) is wicked awesome. But a word of warning:be cautious about the salsa bar in the late hours of the night, not too fresh and could cause sudden membership into the "Bag of Shame Club" (not only a member but the president). The cool thing about eating in O-town is you might have to cap a punk if he looks at you wrong. Good times, living the dream.
