she's an ultra-sound tech, it's a good job, she makes decent money, and she should be able to find a job doing that pretty much anywhere i'd need to go.

Married a great gal 37 years ago, who supported me, raised the family, put up with extended Navy deployments, put up with the unemployment, and never threatened to bail out. She can pack up a household in one day to move to the next job, and call me a jerk for a poor career choice while she is packing the boxes. She is my best friend. OK, so here's the update! I want to be able to travel with my boyfriend (yep--a pilot), yet have a career that works with having kids. So all day yesterday we ran around and got things rolling with the help of the Dept. of Education in Arizona. By the end of today, I should be registered for a certification program for elementary teaching. I've been wanting to do this for a while, but needed to hear from others that it was a good choice. Thanks everyone!

And if all else fails, I'll look into being a dispatcher or getting on with an airline as a CSR. Can't have too many travel bennies.

By the way, it's so wonderful to hear the many compliments that some of you guys gave your significant others. Support on both sides is a must for any relationship, but it's been my experience that this is even more important when the aviation industry is involved.

My better half used to work for Delta, Air Wis, and Great Lakes as a CSR. She recently got smart and went to work as a course materials coordinator for New Horizons computer learning center. She makes more than she did after 5 years with Delta and the bennies are better. (No free airline trips though. ) Now if I could only get smart....

One of them works in a jewlery store, another is a DAL flight attendant (gotta be DAL since I am a former Delta), one is still in college (don't see her too much though), another is a legal secretary, another is doing nothing with herself since her dad has mega bucks (dad buys her horses to play with and "supposebly" train and sell), another works at Kaufman's part time, another is a marketing director for a charter department.

My recent ex (but g/f for several years, so I guess it'll count) is a 767 FO at AMR. Trying to arrange schedules when we both are junior in our seat was a pain the arse, but it worked out most of the time. For some reason, she always had more days off than I..

She's got a great job, except it's not going to last much longer. Great girl, though...

My girlfriend is a Chiropractor which is quite fortuitous after 14 years of flying the Viper, the last 3 1/2 of which included a significant amount of time looking over my shoulder while pulling 6-9 g’s and telling some punk to “Pull Hard Now” after his turn circle entry. My neck is still f****d up, but it feels better than it has for years! Every retired fighter pilot should have one of his girlfriends be a Chiropractor.

Yes, there good women out there that don't mind being the mistress in the marriage between man and airplane.....! No really, I had to learn to embrace it, and that's how I ended up in aviation myself.

....Support for your significant other should be number 1, no matter what they do. Besides, a man in a pilot uniform is sexy--how could a girl not love it?
