gpa

i was given 5 choices in my selected region when i got the call-the next person got my leftovers, and so on and so on.

im sure there was someone with a higher gpa than i got, but like i said, they had chosen a different region that didnt have any open positions yet-so although gpa does theoretically matter, it dont mean squat if you pick westpac or northwest as your regions of choice and they just arent hiring yet. great lakes and eastern are the way to go if you dont care about moving and just wanna get picked up quick.

Oakland ! That was it... I at least had the right state... LOL

Management positions have a higher base salary but they make less then the controllers when all is said and done. Last year over 1000 controllers made more then the administrator...

As for the GPA thing I have heard from people coming in that it turned out to not have much of a factor in getting hired... at least from they think.

I still think that the number of students that CTI is turning out vs. what the FAA needs to hire you'll still be ok as for getting the call. I my area alone I know of 4 that are retiring in the next 8 months.

Gizbug, I'm in the CTI program now at Purdue. I'm hanging up my pilot wings, being a controller just seems like such a better option. Better pay, better family life, better stability, it seems like it has it all! Just curious, I know this has been brushed upon, but I'll be done in May and I was wondering what my chances are of getting Chicago Center, GYY, ORD, MDW? I just really want to live around the Chicago area. Anybody have any idea? Thanks in advance!

I think I may go to one of the schools and try and become an ATC or get the training atleast before pursuing the MBA.........

Well, it seems that i am 1 hour short from obtaining my degree, i thought i had graduated, but went to obtain my diploma and they said i fell an hour short of meeting the 120 hour requirement for my BA. So now do I have to go take care of that before I can pursue an ATC school? Which of the ATC schools give you the ability to get the ATC certification the quickest?

There IS stress in the job. But stress is dfferent things to different people. Some people just thrive on stress. I think you'll find many controllers at the busiest facilities are like that.

The guys and gals in ATL seem to be this way. My hat's off to them. I know I would probably fail miserably at what they do.

The one voice I can consistently recognize is "Buzz" (sp?). This guy always seems to be having a great time at what he is doing.

Buzz, if you are lurking around out there...kudos..."and a good day."

Runninhorn,
Try to take a pre-session class before spring semester, they only last a couple of weeks. I'm sure you've already thought of this, but it might save you a whole semester of just taking one class.

any idea how long that CCBC school is in Penn? How much does it cost, anyone know?

By the way guys, I just became a member here and i'm seriously contemplating going to CCBC. Just finished up at OU with an MEI and i can't find work anywhere. This seems like the best option for me. Thanks again for all the help!
