A friend of mine got hired at a major a short time ago with a DUI on his APPLICATION. It happened 15 years ago but he didn't want to take a chance on a surprise in the background check. He had his app in for a few years. They didn't even ask him about it in the interview. I guess some companies see a DUI for what it is; a mistake. I just think he's one lucky son of a B---.

a guy at my company was hired off the street into the left seat of the CRJ. He has a DUI on his record. Also was recently put in the pool at FedEx. So guess what? I'm packing away the Cuervo as we speak. I want to go to UPS. (kidding. but the guy is in the pool at FedEx)

Guys actually get hired into the left seat of CRJ's?

Yeah buddy,

The company was hurting for captains for the longest time. They were hiring a bunch of guys into the left seat of the CRJ, and the SAAB. My sim partner when I went through initial training was a new-hire CRJ captain. Right place right time I guess.

D.u.i.

Greetings Fellow Flyers:

I was LAXAirport but had to switch my name. Fast forward to Novermber 2004 and my handle is SD_Airport (SAN). Any new information on the D.U.I. topic would be greatly appreciated.

Fly Fun, Fly Safe.

I don't know what's worse: a DUI or gear up on your record.

But not to stray too far from the theme, a friend of mine was hired with a gear up accident on his FAA record. So he proved you can get hired with what you think might be a career ending situation. Just be prepared to essplain yourself in the interview.

A DUI on yer Federal Rap Sheet? Puleez ... dat's child's play. Try getting a job in ANY high-tech field with a misdemeanor drug conviction and a domestic trespass on dat bad boy. :D

Now weez cook'n wid gas!

I know a guy how just got his second and he flys for Northwest, I guess he's able to keep his job....

Does anyone know the process the FAA takes after you've been convicted of a DWI? Cause your supposed to send them info after 30 days of being convicted.

Holy resurrected threads, Batman!

I believe it's 60 or 90 days and FROM THE ARREST DATE, not the conviction date.

You can always tell them later than that though, but you need an aviation lawyer to give the reason and type the excuse.
