A guy I know had rap sheet a mile long. It included several speeding tickets, 1-2 DUI's, wreckless driving, etc. After interviewing with 10+ regional airlines he finally go hired.

If you only have 1 DUI, I don't see how you'd have any problem.

Here's a question for everyone: I've noticed that airline pilots either drink a lot or not at all. Has anyone else noticed that or is it just me??
 
XLR8 - Can you tell me where he was hired? THAT'S where I wanna apply ... I might actually have a chance.

What I meant to infer was that a surprising number of people from all walks of life have DUI's...some more than one. I know of two pilots at Comair and one at ASA who had DUI's in their past. Another factor is going to be any other violations in a pilots past--5 speeding tickets? Juvenile record? Etc., etc.

Don't let one screw up years ago stop you from pursuing a career. The other bits of advice this thread are good, be prepared to talk about it, taking full responsibility for your actions.

As for B190 Capt., as I read your posts through this website, your comments constantly drip with arrogance, lighten up dude....a 1900 ain't the space shuttle.

You seem to be the only one with a problem with what I say. I am not trying to be arrogant. If I did. I apologize. Is it arrogant that I have a clean driving record? What does the 1900 have anything to do with this or anything else that I posted?

there is nor rhyme or reason

i know a guy who became a jetblue pilot, now a captain, hired before 911, with 2 dui's, one far back , then another while at the regional. go figure, guess what, he knew people.... bottom line, it don't matter if you have an in.
 
LAX...I fess up, I recieved a DUI just over 10 years ago and although I am not an airline pilot I do fly to earn a living. Just as some of the other folks have already mentioned, be up front about it and don't try to hide anything. I am not sure about reporting a prior DUI (to initial training) but I had to notify the FAA and also had to annotate this on my medical application. Be sure to keep accurate records and copies of all reports.
As far as interfering with my flying it really did not, but then again I think at least 1 DUI is a prerequisite for ag flying. :D
